Usually Tylers househusband fic/plot bunnies are about TBrown being the househusband, but I thought it would be interesting to play around with that: what if TSegs had to retire and went to be TBrown's househusband? (This was more reality compliant when I originally wrote it; I last worked on it in May 2014.)

Plot Bunny/Snippet )

This is what would have been the center of the Tylers househusband story, and part of the reason I never wrote it is because once I wrote this, I knew what it was about and I wasn't as interested in it anymore. Note that real life Stars wives and girlfriends appear in this story.

The thing that happens before this that I never wrote is one of the women essentially yelling at Tyler about how (a) he could at least pretend not to look down on the rest of them and (b) they could be a support system for him if they would just let them.

Snippet/Not!Fic )

This is a bit that wouldn't have been in the Tylers househusband story, but I wanted to write it anyway. Anna is made up, so I didn't have a particular player picked out to be her partner. Real life Stars wives and girlfriends also appear in this snippet. Content note: infidelity themes.

Once upon a time I was going to write a serious Tylers story where TBrown becomes TSegs' househusband (referred to as "Tylers househusband boredom and financial inequality"). I talked it out a lot with various people, and I wrote a couple of snippets, but I never wrote the story. The fic posts for today, tomorrow, and Sunday are going to be those snippets. This one is a melodramatic TSegs pov version of what happens to TBrown that causes him to not be able to play hockey anymore.

I didn't cobble together enough holiday spirit to send cards this year, I'm feeling a little stuck on my current writing projects, and I have a few days off for holidays this week and next week, so it seems like a good time to do prompt snippets.

Leave me a prompt by the end of the day Saturday and I will write you something by the evening of January 4. (If there are a lot of prompts or circumstances change, posting may extend beyond this date.)

Fine print/guidelines: One per person. Lurkers and anonymous commenters welcome. If you're posting anonymously because you don't have an LJ account but I know you elsewhere and you leave me your name, I will do my best to write something catered to your tastes. Generally first come first served, although things may jump the queue depending on inspiration and what can be written at work. I will write hockey, but not Patrick Kane, Drew Doughty, or the Avalanche. I may write other fandoms; feel free to ask if you want something else. I may veer from your prompt. I will take lyric prompts, but be forewarned that I'm not necessarily good at them. This is for new story ideas, not sequels or timestamps. I make no promises about length, but in the past prompt snippets have tended to be 300-3000 words.

Happy Halloween! Welcome to the sixth annual edition of virtual trick-or-treating.

Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a video, or something else I come up with in the moment. My intention is to finishing handing out all treats before I go to bed on Halloween. (And then sleep in on Saturday.) Lurkers and anonymous trick-or-treaters are welcome! (But if you're posting anonymously or your LJ completely friends-locked and you want a treat specific to your interests, let me know something about why you know me/what you're into.)

Summary: That first night, alone in Cal and Kelly's guest bedroom, Tyler changes his Facebook status to single, hides Segs from his feed, stops following him on Instagram, stops following the Stars Foundation on Twitter, deletes the Stars app from his phone so he won't get their updates.

Notes: This is slightly AU because I wrote it before the summer. Title from Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys."

Summary: This isn't wanting to tie Segs up or Segs wanting to blindfold him or anything like that. This is way out into weird territory.

Notes: The video mentioned in the story is real. Everything else is made up.

Content Note: Puppy play.

I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off this week and next Friday is a holiday, which means I have a four-day weekend this weekend and three-day weekend next weekend. I'm going to use this time to do what I love to do on long weekends and write prompt snippets.

Leave me a prompt by, say, Saturday morning, and I will write you something by the evening of July 6.

Fine print/guidelines: One per person. Lurkers and anonymous commenters welcome. Generally first come first served, although things may jump the queue depending on inspiration. I will write hockey, but not Patrick Kane or Drew Doughty. I may write other fandoms; feel free to ask if you want something else. I may veer from your prompt. Tyler Seguin Skypes/Facetimes/whatevers with Tyler Brown while lying shirtless in bed, and then screencaps it for later:

Summary: There are four dozen plastic eggs hidden in the house and the makings of Easter dinner in the fridge. They have guests coming over later. Playoffs have started. Segs is still asleep when Tyler gets home from church.

Notes: I have no actual knowledge about either Tyler's religious background, upbringing, or beliefs. I guessed Tyler Brown was raised at least nominally Catholic because he mentioned in an interview that his family is from Montreal. I also took a guess at which players might not have family around for Easter a few years from now. Devin is an actual Stars prospect I chose mostly at random.

what we'll teach our children )

This is another one of those somewhat melodramatic things I wrote before it became clear that the Stars adore Segs and he's doing just fine there.

The Tylers lose touch at some point, harder to stay friends when they're not even in the same time zone.

Years later, though, Segs is still spending his summers in Toronto. He's in the grocery store one day, and there's Brownie with three kids, one in the cart and two more walking next to him. Segs just kind of stares at him until Brownie looks up and sees him.

"Segs?"

"Hey."

The oldest of the kids tugs at Brownie's pant leg. "Uncle Tyler, do you know Tyler Seguin?"

Brownie says, "Yeah. We played in Juniors together."

"Nuh-uh," one of the kids says.

"Uh-huh," Brownie says, and then he introduces Segs to the kids. "They're Cody's," he explains, and Segs is surprised by how relieved he is that they're not Brownie's kids.

Talking to kids is something Segs totally knows how to do, so he asks them if they like hockey and if they play hockey. Brownie has paper with him in the giant bag of kids' stuff he left the house with so Segs signs autographs for the kids too.

Then he says, "I'm in town for the summer, if you want to get a drink or something."

"Yeah," Brownie says. He digs his phone out. "I have the kids for a couple more days, but give me your number and I'll call you when I'm free."

Segs puts his number into Brownie's phone, and then he has to move on and do the rest of his grocery shopping.

But later he and Brownie get a quiet drink together. Segs has grown up a lot, and he's come to terms with the fact that he's bi, even if he's not out. He manages to slip that into the conversation, and Brownie tells him about how his relationship with a guy he dated for a couple of years fell apart when they lived together.

And then there would be a lot of careful dating and eventually they would live happily ever after. (Brownie's a little sad about being so far away from his nieces and nephews when he moves to Dallas - when they ran into each other in Toronto, he had them because Cody and his wife were taking a last couple's vacation before the next kid was born - but he goes to visit sometimes, and the Tylers still spend the summers in Toronto.)
rsadelle: (Default)
If this were a whole story, it would be a mostly unacknowledged V relationship ongoing negotiation thing. Like, Tyler and Segs have a tendency to make out a lot when they're together, and they've gone farther than that a couple of times. Segs and Fred are pretty much together now, but in an open (really open) relationship sort of way. Tyler and Fred know each other, a little, and they're cool with each other the way all of Segs' bros are cool with each other, but they've never really hung out together much.

I am off work until Monday morning (woohoo!) and both of my long projects are in the editing stages (yay, I guess), which means I thought it would be a good time to do prompt snippets.

Leave me a prompt by, say, Friday evening, and I will write you something by Sunday night.
