rsadelleI am off work until Monday morning (woohoo!) and both of my long projects are in the editing stages (yay, I guess), which means I thought it would be a good time to do prompt snippets.
Leave me a prompt by, say, Friday evening, and I will write you something by Sunday night.
Fine print/guidelines: One per person. Lurkers and anonymous commenters welcome. I will write hockey, but not Patrick Kane. I may write other fandoms; feel free to ask if you want something else. I may veer from your prompt. I will take lyric prompts, but be forewarned that I'm not necessarily good at them. Phil warned him, and sent him pictures, but it's still a shock when the footsteps that come running toward Tyler's hello are human instead of canine.
The little girl he recognizes from pictures skids to a stop in front of him. "Uncle Tyler!" She turns around. "Look!"
Her wavy blonde hair falls to her shoulders, and below it the blue and white shirt she's wearing says "Bozak 42."
She turns around with a wide grin, and Tyler can't possibly resist that. He crouches down and gathers her into a hug. "Hi, Stella. Sweet shirt." He picks her up as he stands.
"I made Daddy get me one with your name on it. I have another one with his name." Stella's arms wind around his neck, and Tyler carries her into the living room where Phil is standing in the middle of the room because he couldn't be bothered to come to the door or didn't want to see the look on Tyler's face when Stella ran up to him.
Tyler scoffs. "Why would you want Daddy's name? Mine is way better."
"Hey," Phil says mildly. "She's my kid."
"Mine's still better," Tyler says. He glances from Phil to Stella, not sure what he can do now that Stella's a kid and not a dog.
Phil makes the decision for him, wrapping one arm around Tyler's back and leaning in for a kiss. "Hi."
"Hi." Tyler nuzzles at Phil's jaw for a second, until Stella squirms to be let down.
"How was your summer?" Phil asks.
Tyler rolls his eyes. "I texted you all the time. You know how my summer was." He kisses Phil again, lightly. Stella is now completely absorbed in something involving Legos, so he feels safe in asking, "How have things been here?"
Phil shrugs a little. "You know. Taking care of Stella."
Tyler doesn't know, not really, which is why he was asking.
"Uncle Tyler, come play with me."
"Give me just a couple of minutes, baby," Tyler says. "I need to put some of my things away." He's not going to bother to unpack, but he grabs all of his bags from the entryway and takes them into Phil's room. He can see through the open door that his room has become Stella's for the duration.
Phil follows him, carrying Tyler's suit bag. Tyler would give him hell for picking the lightest of the bags, but he didn't have to carry any of them.
"Are you okay with this?" Phil asks.
"I don't have much of a choice," Tyler says. He catches at Phil's hips, squeezing at the bulk that comes with offseason training and weight gain. "It's still Stella, right?"
"Right," Phil says.
Tyler nods. "Right, then. Too bad we can't fuck or swear, though."
Phil looks more alarmed than he has by anything else that's happened since Tyler walked in the door. "We can still fuck. Later, when she's asleep."
Tyler pushes one hand up under Phil's shirt and moves the other around to squeeze Phil's ass. "I was going to fuck you, and you can't be that quiet when I do." He recognizes the blush on Phil's face as the one he gets when he's turned on and leaves him in the bedroom to get himself under control while Tyler goes to play Legos with Stella.

Stella turns wide eyes on Phil. "Please, can we, Daddy?"
Phil caves, exactly the way he does for Stella in normal times. "Go put on your shoes."
"Yay!" Stella throws her arms in the air, then goes running to the door.
Tyler and Phil follow her at a normal adult pace, and they all put on shoes. It's strange to leave for lunch without having to make sure Stella the dog is set up to be home alone, but the way Phil tells Stella to stay close is pretty much the same way he always tells her when they take her out.
Phil orders Stella a kid's meal quesadilla, which she eats in tiny, distracted bites while she looks around at all the people in the Chipotle and all the people walking past it. Probably one of them should tell her to keep her butt in her chair the way Tyler's mom used to tell him when he was little, but Tyler doesn't care that much and Phil doesn't either, so she wanders over to the windows, stands on her chair, climbs over into Phil's lap.
Stella eats half her quesadilla and most of her beans and rice before she declares herself done. Phil and Tyler split the rest of her quesadilla, finish off her chips and their burritos, and take her home before she can get bored enough to cause trouble. They're already getting dirty looks for being bad parents or whatever because they're letting her wander around.
Stella conks out for a nap after they get home, falling asleep in the middle of the living room floor while flipping through a picture book on Phil's iPad.
"Oh, thank God," Tyler says. "I'm tired already."
"You've only been here for three hours," Phil says. He carefully picks Stella up and carries her into Tyler's room where he tucks her in under the pink flowered sheets that definitely weren't there when Tyler left for the summer. He kisses her forehead, then pulls the door mostly closed. "I've had her for two weeks."
"You've had time to get used to it," Tyler says. "And I'm jet lagged." He pushes Phil into his room where they both strip down to their underwear and climb into bed. Tyler would like to do something about Phil mostly naked in a bed, but he's too tired for it.

Phil turns over. "Mandy's theory is that she's a Stella from an alternate universe who switches places with the other Stella sometimes."
As much as it pains him to do it, Tyler takes his hands off of Phil's body. "That's even worse. I'm not traumatizing some kid who has to go back and live with that trauma." He's so focused on how much he would rather keep groping Phil's offseason bulk that it takes him a minute to realize the other implication of what Phil just said. "What do you mean sometimes? Has this happened before?"
"A couple of times," Phil says.
"What the fuck?" Tyler gets out of bed and pulls on some clothes. Not getting to fuck Phil seems like less of an issue at the moment. "You never thought you should tell me about that?"
"It hasn't happened in a long time," Phil says. He also gets out of bed and picks up his clothes off the floor. "I didn't think it would again."
Tyler pauses with his hand on the doorknob. "How long has it been?"
"Couple of years."
Tyler's pretty sure what Phil means is that it hasn't happened since before the last time Phil got dumped. "Still should have told me."
Tyler goes out to the living room where Stella is sitting on the couch, her legs straight out in front of her, iPad on her lap. She's so small compared to the couch that only her ankles and feet are dangling off of it. She kicks her feet a little while Tyler watches, and then looks up when she notices he's there.
Tyler sits down next to her and puts an arm around her. "Are you happy?" It's maybe a big question for such a little girl, and one who isn't usually a girl. Unless Amanda's right and she usually is, just somewhere else.
"Yep," Stella says. She leans trustingly against Tyler's side. "I love you, Uncle Tyler."
Tyler looks down at her with more surprise than he probably should have at that. "Me too, baby." He bends over to kiss the top of her head. It's hard to stay mad at Phil for not telling him about this when Stella is so perfectly adorable and loving. "Do you think if we asked him to, Daddy would come read us a story?"
Stella holds out the iPad, both hands carefully gripping the sides. "Daddy, will you read us a story?"
Phil's been watching them from the edge of the room, but he comes over to the couch and takes the iPad from Stella. "Of course I will."
Before Phil can start reading, Tyler leans over Stella's head to kiss him. Stella kicks her feet and waits for them to be done.
"It's good to be home," Tyler says, and then he pulls Stella onto his lap so Phil can read them a story.

"Why are we home?" Tyler hands Jamie a bottle of Gatorade and flops down onto his couch like the giant drama queen he is. "We're stars." He laughs, mouth going wide and open. "Literally." He giggles to himself for a second. "We should be getting laid."
They should. They really, really should. Jamie's hit the midpoint of her cycle and she's turned on pretty much all the time. The plan was that they were going to go out, Tyler was going to do whatever the hell he wanted, and Jamie wasn't going to be too picky about who picked her up so she could get laid. "Whatever will work," Jim says. "Frankly, I'm not sure how much he's going to need. It takes a little bit of time for Jamie and Tyler to get used to playing together, and to playing their natural positions again, but once they do, it's electric. Off the ice, Jamie and Jordie make the dinner invitation a standing one, and Tyler's at their place more than his own.
Jamie figures Tyler's success is at least half a fuck you to Boston, but the other half is all him in a way Jamie can't believe Boston couldn't make work. As he gets to know Tyler better, gets to know what he responds to and what he doesn't, watches him get himself picked up in a couple of bars, he thinks that Jim's two possible explanations for Tyler's previous behavior - bad situation or uncollared sub feeling adrift - might have been working together.
Dallas is a good situation for Tyler, professionally and personally, and while he doesn't exactly ask for anything from Jamie, Jordie, or any of the other doms, Jamie can see the way they all treat him like a sub without denying that he's capable and competent of running his own life. Tyler gets out at his floor while Jamie and Jordie go up to theirs, but ten minutes later he knocks at the door. He's changed into sweats and a soft-looking striped crew neck, and he has Marshall with him.
Jamie lets him in and goes to the couch where he and Jordie already have the Xbox on and controllers out. They play a lot of video games anyway, and this way they won't be pressuring Tyler into anything in particular.
Tyler looks at both of them for a moment - Marshall goes over to greet Jordie without any hesitation - then sinks down to sit on the floor next to Jamie.
Jamie strokes Tyler's hair whenever there's an opportunity for him to take his hands off his controller.

Tyler's still asleep when Jamie and Jordie get up from their naps. They let him sleep for now, Jordie taking Marshall out for a walk and Jamie getting started on dinner.

"Jordie took Marshall out for a walk," Jamie says. He watches Tyler nod, and then Tyler's eyes stray from his face to the vegetables on the cutting board.
Jamie picks up a piece of carrot and holds it out. Tyler reaches for it, but gets the idea when Jamie pulls it back and then offers it to him again, holding it up where Tyler can eat it directly from his hand.
Tyler's cheeks turn pink, but there's a curve to his lips and something soft around his eyes that make Jamie pick up a piece of mushroom and hand feed that to him next.
He hasn't gotten very far with dinner when Jordie comes back, too busy watching the wash of color on Tyler's face and the sweep of his eyelashes while Jamie feeds him pieces of this and that.
Jordie doesn't comment, just pushes the already cut up vegetables to one side of the cutting board where Jamie can get at them before cutting up the rest of them.

"Did they ask you to?" Tyler asks Jamie in the car on the way home on a day when Jordie took a maintenance day and didn't come to practice.
Jamie turns down the radio. "Did who ask me to what?"

"Jim told me they were thinking about trading for an uncollared sub. He didn't tell me who." Jamie glances over, but Tyler's still looking out the window. "He asked me if I would keep an eye on you. I said yes, but I would have done that for anyone." Jamie thinks for a second about what else he needs to say to Tyler now. "I wouldn't have done as much as I have if I didn't want to. If I didn't want to do it for you."
Tyler doesn't speak the rest of the way home, but he finally looks at Jamie in the elevator, turning to face him and put himself between Jamie and the number panel before Jamie can hit the button for his floor. "Do you want to come to my place?"
Jamie's mouth goes dry. If Tyler is asking what he thinks he's asking. "What do you want?"
"I want you to do more than what you have so far."
Tyler's wearing another one of those v-necks he loves, making his collar-less neck look even more bare. Jamie's eyes get caught there, then he drags them up to Tyler's face. "Yes," he says, and only the knowledge of how bad it would be if the elevator security footage got out keeps him from touching Tyler until they're inside Tyler's apartment.

Tyler makes breakfast for Jamie one morning, an almost shy smile on his face when he puts a plate of eggs in front of him. Jamie looks at the plate and Tyler's face, and then pulls Tyler down onto his lap. He kisses Tyler's neck, in a spot that would be covered by a collar if he wore one.
"You can cook."
"Some," Tyler says. He leans against Jamie's chest. "I wouldn't starve if you didn't feed me all the time."
Jamie kisses his neck, the hinge of his jaw, just behind his ear. "I like feeding you." He picks up his fork and feeds Tyler a bite of eggs to make the point.
Tyler's eyes flutter closed, and he leans more heavily against Jamie.
Jamie watches his face and tightens the arm he has around Tyler's waist. "If we didn't have to go to practice," he says.
"After practice," Tyler says, and he slides off of Jamie's lap when Jamie lets go of him.
Neither of them stop smiling all day.

He thought maybe, based on some of the stories Tyler tells, but he also knows from some of the stories Tyler tells that Tyler's hooked up with other subs. Not that Tyler's ever said outright that he and Brownie have hooked up, but Jamie was pretty sure they had before, and is almost positive about it once he sees them together. Given that, and given that Brownie is Tyler's best friend, Jamie's not that surprised when Brownie manages to get him alone.
"Man," Jamie says after a minute of Brownie talking about things that aren't Tyler, "you don't have to try to work up to it. I know you want to talk to me about Tyler."
"I, yeah," Brownie says. He braces his hands on the counter. "He seems good, happy. Here, with you."
Jamie nods. "Yeah, I think so." He pauses, not sure if he should ask. "You and he-"
Brownie shakes his head before Jamie can finish the question. "Nah. We've played, but we don't quite work together long-term." He lifts a shoulder in a shrug. "It is what it is." He looks at Jamie seriously. "If you haven't figured it out, he'll take orders, but he really likes being taken care of."
"I'm taking really good care of him," Jamie promises.
"Good," Brownie says, "that's good."
Tyler comes into the kitchen then, and smiles at both of them. It breaks up the conversation, but Brownie seems satisfied, so probably there won't be a second one.
When they go to bed, Jamie staying over with Tyler despite his guests since they basically live together anyway, Jamie thinks about that promise. He does take good care of Tyler, making sure he's happy, making sure he's getting what he wants, hand feeding him any time they have time for it. There's one more thing he could do, which he's been thinking about for a while anyway.
They make out for a little bit once they're in bed, because Jamie enjoys kissing Tyler, and it's one of the simple things Tyler so obviously loves, so giving it to him just makes it better for Jamie.
Jamie stops kissing Tyler sometime after his eyes have adjusted enough to see Tyler's face in the dark. He runs his hand over Tyler's cheek and down to his neck. "Do you want to be an uncollared sub?"
He can feel Tyler's heartbeat jump under his palm.
"No," Tyler says, almost too softly to be heard.
Jamie bends and kisses his neck. "Do you want to wear my collar?"
"Yes," Tyler says. "Yes, please."
Jamie presses another kiss to his neck before he moves up to let Tyler kiss him desperate and messy. "I'll get you one you like," Jamie says. "You can help pick it out." He takes Tyler's mouth in a deep kiss that Tyler melts into. "I'm going to take such good care of you."

There are girls in Philly. Lots of girls, every time Jeff goes out with Mike and the rest of the boys. They party, they ask Jeff to buy them drinks, they end up in his bed.
It takes him longer than it probably should to realize that when they look at him they see money and fame.
He gets good at kicking them out in the morning.
Some mornings, he wakes up with Mike in his bed. He never kicks Mike out, goes for round two if they're not too hungover for it. Mike's known him forever, and he makes more money than Jeff does. He's only there because he likes Jeff.

Jeff meets Megan on the beach. He's wearing ratty cargo shorts and five-dollar sunglasses because his three-hundred dollar ones have disappeared, probably into the depths of his couch. Megan's wearing a tiny bikini, a giant hat, and sunglasses whose quality Jeff can't judge. She's also pulling on the leash attached to the tiny, fluffy dog nosing at Jeff's ankles and saying, "Miley, no."
Jeff smiles at her and crouches down to let the dog, Miley, apparently, sniff his hand.
"I'm so sorry," Megan says when Jeff stands up again. "She's usually much better behaved."
"It's okay," Jeff says with a shrug. "I like dogs."
Megan looks at him then, really does a once-over that ends with her smiling at him. "Me too. I'm Megan."
"Jeff."
Later, she ditches Miley with whoever she's at the shore with and Jeff takes her home. He's watching carefully so he sees the way her eyebrows go up when she takes in the house. She turns around, though, and fixes her gaze on his chest and then his face while she asks, "Give me the tour?"
The tour mostly consists of his bedroom. Megan doesn't ask what he does. He doesn't kick her out in the morning.

"Nice," Mike says the first time Jeff shows him a picture of Megan.
"Yep."
"Where'd you meet her?"
"On the beach." It's only because he and Mike are so close that Jeff adds, "She thinks I'm hot."
Mike stares at him incredulously. "You are hot," he says. "I've told you you're hot. But from her you believe it."
Jeff shrugs. Mike's his best friend; he has to say things like that.
Mike slings an arm around Jeff's shoulders and kisses his jaw, just below his ear. "You're a piece of work, Cartsy."

"I've been saving money for a boob job," she says. "But it's taking longer than I thought."
Jeff frowns at her. Her boobs are great, and she worked at Hooters. "You want a boob job?"
"Yes," she says. She cups her breasts. "They could be better. They could look right, so I could look really hot."
"I'll pay for it," Jeff says.
Megan stares at him. They aren't even living together, and while he buys her things sometimes and pays for the stuff they do together, they don't share finances.
Jeff shrugs. "I have the money, and I get it." He bites his lip at the look on her face, which says she maybe doesn't like what he's saying. "You should talk to Mike," he says. "He can explain it better."
Megan does talk to Mike, which Jeff knows because she tells him when she's going over to Mike's and because she and Mike both give him looks after they talk that are both fond and slightly exasperated.
"I made an appointment for my first consultation with the plastic surgeon," Megan says when they're crawling into bed a couple of days later.
"Cool," Jeff says. "Just tell them to send the bill to me."
Megan snuggles up to his chest. "I'd still think you were hot even if I didn't love you."
Jeff drops a kiss into her hair. "I'd still love you even if your chest was totally flat."

Tyler wakes up way too early because there's an alarm going off. "No," he says when Brownie turns it off and sits up. "Why are you up?"
Brownie kisses his cheek. "I need to start the turkey."
Tyler grabs at him and says, "We're not even American," but all it gets him is Brownie laughing a little as he gets out of bed.
Tyler dozes a bit, and wakes up again when Brownie slides back into bed.
Brownie kisses him, both of them kind of gross with morning breath, but they've never cared about that.
"We're Canadian," Tyler says. "I don't know why you always do American Thanksgiving."
Brownie chuckles. "It's fun." He kisses Tyler. "I like cooking." He slides his hand down Tyler's back. "You like having a lot of people over." He pulls Tyler against him with the hand on his ass.
Tyler kisses him and gets his hand between them to tug on Brownie's cock. "I like getting fucked, too." He rolls his hips back into Brownie's hand. "I'm probably still pretty loose from last night."
Brownie's cock jumps in Tyler's hand, but he still asks, "You sure?" because he's the best, most careful partner Tyler's ever had.
"Yeah. I don't have to skate until tomorrow."

They eat, and then Tyler does the dishes while Brownie gets out whatever else he wants to start cooking now. Tyler helps peel and cube potatoes, cuts up celery and onions, washes more green beans than he knew existed in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
There's a break for him when the prep work is done and Brownie is getting into the serious cooking part of it. Tyler takes Marshall out for a walk around the block to see how the scents of the neighborhood have changed since Brownie took him out a couple of hours ago.
When Marshall's tired out enough to stay out of the way, they go home and Tyler sets up the rented tables and chairs. They have rented plates, glasses, and silverware too, which Tyler thought was silly the first time they did it, but is now just another part of making it possible for them to host both sets of Benn families and miscellaneous rookies and single guys for Thanksgiving.
There's another round of prep work where Tyler cuts up fruits and vegetables for the appetizer trays, and then he hangs around the kitchen trying not to get in the way and watching Brownie cook. Brownie's been living with - and cooking for - him for five years, since he retired from hockey, and they've been doing a big Thanksgiving dinner for four. Tyler still loves watching him cook. Brownie's a little softer than he was when he was playing hockey, even though he still works out, but Tyler doesn't find him any less attractive now than he did then.
Brownie catches his eye. "What?"
Tyler shrugs. "Nothing. Just enjoying the view."
Brownie shakes his head with a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

He gives Mason back to Jamie when dinner is almost done so he can help Brownie get everything on the table.
They turn off the TV when the table's ready, and everyone finds seats. Like they do every year, they go around the table and say what they're thankful for. The rookies are always thankful for the opportunity to play in the NHL. The single guys are always thankful to be invited over for dinner. Jamie and Jordie are always thankful for their families. Ashley and Nicole are always thankful they didn't have to cook. The kids are always thankful for a variety of things ranging from having a baby brother to getting to play with Marshall to their newest toy.
Tyler laces his fingers with Brownie's while they listen to everyone else, and when it's his turn he says, "I'm thankful to have so many good friends to share this day with. I'm thankful for the opportunities I've been given in life." He squeezes Brownie's hand. "And I'm thankful for Brownie." It puts a soft smile on Brownie's face.
"I'm thankful to have all of you to cook for," Brownie says, "and so thankful for Segs."
He's the last one to say what he's thankful for, and then they all join hands while Jamie says grace.
The meal itself is a chaotic affair with a handful of different conversations. The kids are the first ones to leave the table. Tyler and a couple of the rookies do most of the cleanup, putting leftovers away, rinsing plates and repacking them into their crates, wiping down the counters. Brownie takes Jordie, Nicole, and a couple of the kids on a walk around the block with Marshall.
The kids take naps, spread out over the guest room, while the rest of them watch football. Tyler dozes a little leaning against Brownie's shoulder; he was up early and he's used to napping in the afternoons. At least one of the rookies always ends up napping on the floor, and Tyler lets Jamie be the one to step in and tell the other rookies they can't prank him for it because it's Thanksgiving.
They have dessert after the kids get up from their naps. There are four kinds of pie, with both ice cream and real whipped cream to go with them. The Benns get the kids set up at the table, and the rest of them settle more casually around the living room.
Because they all have practice tomorrow and the kids have bedtimes, people leave pretty early. The Benns make the kids put the toys away before they leave, and the rookies helped clean up after dessert, so there isn't much more Tyler and Brownie have to do. They pack up the tablecloths and fold up the tables and chairs so they can be picked up in the morning. Brownie runs the vacuum so Marshall won't spend all night licking the rug.
Tyler's tired, but if he goes to bed now, he'll wake up too early tomorrow, so they curl up on the couch, Marshall on the floor at their feet with his head on the couch so they'll pet him, and watch more football, which is entertaining enough without being something they care about to the point that they have to pay a lot of attention.
"Good Thanksgiving?" Brownie asks.
"Yeah." Tyler smiles and nuzzles at Brownie's neck.
"Good enough to get up early for?"
Tyler laughs. "Yeah." He kisses Brownie's jaw. "But I like it when it's just us too."
Brownie smiles at him. "Me too."
