I started writing this quite a while ago, so it takes place in a world where Joner never got traded and the Kings exercised a normal buyout of Mike's contract. This is less a linear narrative and more a collection of scenes from a life as it goes on. I was really having fun writing it, but unfortunately I didn't finish it before I needed to move on from hockey. I did write out what else would have happened so there is some closure to the story.
Content Note: Various real world partners, children, siblings, and other family members appear in this story. Skip it if that's not your thing.

This story grew out of Chicago Parent's article on the Blackhawks baby boom. All of the other women look picture perfect; Abby looks exhausted. She says about life when Patrick's on the road, "I don't mean to throw him under the bus or anything. It's not too much different from when he's home because usually he's napping or resting for the game. But no, we're used to being on our own, you know, so it's really not that much different." About Patrick's relationship with Madelyn she says, "I think now that she's getting older, and can talk and play with him, he's just in love. ... He's really enjoying it, I think, now that she's getting out of the baby stage." I read that and thought, "No wonder she looks tired." There were also rumors floating around scurrilous anonymous gossip spaces (way before last season's specific rumor) that Patrick slept with other women.
I wanted to write a story where Abby gets fed up, takes the kids, and leaves, and then has to figure out how to, or even if she wants to, fix her marriage. This is the part of that story I wrote. I never got to the part where they figure it out and make it work, so be forewarned that this leaves off at an uncertain place. Part of what made writing this story fun was that I was writing it just for me - I decided to just write and not worry about finishing or ever posting it. Months would go by without my even looking at this story, and then I would sit down and write 600 words one day.
Content Notes: This story involves real life partners and children. Infidelity themes. There is a mention of Patrick Kane and his girlfriend makes a brief appearance.

The premise for this story was that Sid is a traditional omega in many ways. For example, he's always chaperoned when with unbonded alphas. (Conveniently, Geno is a beta and therefore a suitable chaperone.) Alex is an alpha, and he and Sid turn out to be ridiculously compatible. There's a bit in here that refers to Ovi talking to the press about how Sid after Sid's bout of the mumps. I really only ever wrote the first scene and a tiny bit of a later one, but there's some what else would have happened at the end.
Content Note: Part of why I didn't come back to this story is that I had Sid talking about hooking up with betas but wanting to bond with an alpha, and I was uncomfortable with that in an A/B/O as an allegory for gender/sexuality politics way.
( Crosby/Ovechkin A/B/O )

I had a plan for this story. Then I only ever wrote the first scene. The idea for this grew out of my fascination at Anna taking on many of the public support duties other players' wives or girlfriends take on (Twitter cheerleading, charity work). The structural idea was for this to be split into three sections with each section including three alternating povs - Alex, Anna, and the boyfriend (whose name and details I never came up with). Here's the basic outline:
Prologue (one scene each)
( First scene )
Prologue (one scene each)
- Alex comes out to Anna
- Anna makes it clear to the Habs people that she is the public support for Alex for charity work and other related things.
- The boyfriend brings up being out to Alex early in their relationship. The boyfriend is so out he can't go back into the closet even if he wanted to and people are going to figure it out if they keep dating much later.
- Alex navigates what it means to be an openly gay NHL player.
- Anna slowly turns over all of the public support duties to the boyfriend and has to figure what to do with her life now.
- The boyfriend moves in with Alex and navigates what it means to be the partner of an NHL player.
- Alex is totally settled in his life as an out player. Maybe this is 24CH visiting their house, or doing some sort of event to support queer kids who play hockey, or talking about the boyfriend in an interview after winning an important game.
- Anna is totally happy in her own life. Maybe this is a look at her entrepreneurial business or modeling or her with a boyfriend she brings to family dinner. I never quite figured out exactly what Anna's life would look like.
- The boyfriend is wholly part of the world of hockey player partners. Maybe this is him welcoming the partner of someone who just got signed/traded to the Habs to the group.

The idea behind this is that Alex and Brandon hook up off and on. They don't talk about it, and they don't tell anyone about it, but Alex keeps borrowing Brandon's clothes. I only wrote some of the snippets of this story.

I wanted a fake dating story where the people who were fake dating were not the end game pairing. Like so many things, I wrote bits of this into emails to
lakeeffectgirl, but never wrote the parts in the middle.

I really like this story! But it needed work that I lost interest in doing, both rewriting the beginning and doing fighting research for the kink escalation it needed in the middle. I feel guilty about abandoning it since a couple of friends were kind enough to read through it and help figure out what it needed, but it's time to admit I'm never coming back to it. If I'd finished it, the title probably would have been "A side of love you've never known" from Jason Derulo's "In My Head."

The title of this story's doc was briouxs1 (Sean has a boyfriend). As that 1 can attest, this was the first Brioux story I started writing. I gave up on it partly because I wasn't sure exactly what should happen next and partly because I realized the timeline doesn't work at all. (At one point, I have a note to self that says, "Crap. This is the Friday night in 24/7.") It is, however, still my ur-Brioux story, and you can see in it a lot of elements I ended up reusing in other stories.

I never thought the Chris characterization in this story was quite right, but I really liked it as a story, and kept hoping I would go back to it, but since I haven't worked on it in years, it's time to WIP Amnesty it. (Although I reserve the right to cannibalize the world building for parts, because I still love it.) Fair warning that it's unintentionally very D/s-y.
At some point, I started building a playlist for this story, even though the story wasn't finished.

The idea for this was that Ryanne can go back and forth between Montreal and Philly, and while in Montreal, she becomes friends with Anna.

The original idea for this was that Danny is a hooker and both Sid and Claude are his clients. Somehow they find out about each other, and then they're forever competing with each other by giving Danny extravagant gifts or large tips or whatever. I only ever wrote the scene where Claude meets Danny's kids and notes about the scene after that. (The alternate version would be that without the structure of hockey, Danny and Sylvie don't get married as early/at all and Danny never has kids.)

According to Megan, she and Jeff met on the beach one summer. In the interview with her in Jeff's Cup day vid, she straight-faced tells the camera that Miley is Jeff's dog (at 4 minutes in). That part's a lie, but I always wonder if the part about Miley being there when she met Jeff isn't.

I started writing this somewhere after season 2, I think, and I never finished it (just like I never really went back to the show). I would read a long form version of this story, though.

I gave up on this story because I didn't know where it was going, but it was entertaining for me to write.
