This is another one of those somewhat melodramatic things I wrote before it became clear that the Stars adore Segs and he's doing just fine there.

Tyler has a meeting with management first thing when he goes to Dallas just after he's been traded. That's when they tell him that while they understand he's used to Boston's more liberal ways, they're just not comfortable with him being uncollared and unsupervised, and if he can't come up with a dom to keep an eye on him, they'll assign him one. Tyler sends a group text to the Boston crew to see if someone can come hang with him for a couple of days and Brandon's the only one available.

He doesn't mention it to anyone else, just takes a couple of the Boston crew with him every time he goes to Dallas over the summer, and none of them bring it up either, just hang with him when he needs them to.

During the season, there isn't anything else he can do, so the Stars assign him to doms for stretches of time, mostly the older married guys (probably Horcoff a lot of the time - he also has captain experience). They don't go so far as to insist he live with one of them, but he has all these restrictions about checking in and not going out and whatever. It's all bullshit, and he kind of hates it. He can't even go out and make new friends so he can have a Dallas crew like his Boston crew.

The truth about it comes out when he talks to his parents, who also think it's bullshit, but he can't bring himself to tell Brownie about it. It's so dumb, and, like, he doesn't want to have to admit that he screwed up so much his team is punishing him like this. Obviously Brownie knows he's unhappy, but he manages to keep him from knowing exactly why.

But then they're both home in Toronto over Christmas and Brownie gets it out of him, either because they're drunk or because they're playing.

And then I don't know. This could be a pretend relationship story where Brownie collars him so he's technically collared and the Stars will leave him alone. Or it could be a story where Brownie is the one who's most comforting and who he ends up talking to about it most and then eventually Brownie collars him (with the understanding that he's still going to play with other people).

So maybe once Brownie knows, Tyler can complain to him a lot. He tries not to with the Boston crew, because they're the ones who come visit him sometimes and get him out of the strict rule of his teammates for a couple of days, and he doesn't want them to think he's ungrateful. But Brownie can't be there anyway, so it's totally safe to complain to him.

At some point in his complaints, Brownie says, "I could collar you."

"I wasn't, like, asking you for that," Tyler says.

"Yeah, I know, but, like, it would fix your problems, right? I mean, it doesn't have to be, like, real."

They talk about it, and then they decide if they're going to do it, they probably have to do it right and have a ceremony and everything, so they set that up for the summer, and Tyler explains to the people he still wants to play with that it's just to get Dallas off his back, and that they can check with Brownie on that if they need to.

His teammates might wonder about it a bit, but management just cares that he's collared, which means that if he gets in trouble now, it's a reflection on his dom, not them. Plus, it's not like Tyler and Brownie have never played before, so it's no big deal to do that when they're in the same place.

Eventually, though, it's not just about Brownie being his best friend. They really are mostly together. Tyler still wants to play with other people, too, but during the summers, he and Brownie have a pretty traditional relationship. Brownie even gets final say about when/if he gets to play with anyone else and what he's allowed to do with them. (It's equally awesome when Tyler gets to play with other people and when Brownie acts totally possessive and doesn't let him.) The season is a little looser, but Tyler still sometimes asks for permission.

And then, obviously, they live happily ever after with this awesome deal where they're together and they get to play with other people.
