So, I run this list. It's not the only Metallica slash out there. There are people on metslash who aren't on the list that dare not speak its name, and vice versa. There are some people on both lists. Most of the people who are no mail and/or lurkers on metslash are on both lists. Most of the people who post fic are only on metslash.

Every time I remind people about our archiving policies, I remind them that crossposting is okay. It is possible to post a fic to a list without granting archiving permission. I know that some of the people on both lists are writers. I know that some of them are extremely good writers. I know that they've posted fic to the other list. And yet, with the exception of one author and one story by a second author, none of them post to metslash.

Why not?

Is it because we don't automatically jump up and down and say, "Oh, you're so wonderful, that was the best story ever, when are you writing the sequel?" to every piece of fic that gets posted? Is it because I actually dare to say what I don't like about fic? I only wish someone would critique my fic the way I've critiqued other people's fic. Well, the more recent stuff anyway; I know just how bad some of my older fic is. Isn't that far more useful to you as a writer than unconditional praise for every word you write?

Or perhaps, like one person who recently unsubbed, they don't like it that I dare say that I don't like some of the writing and list policies of the other list. Apparently the fact that all three S's and various other people from the other list have said extremely negative things about metslash and me in their journals and journal comments is completely irrelevant.

Not that I'm bitter.

What I don't understand, is why it still bothers you so much?? You have metslash, why not act like an adult and leave tallific alone? Are you THAT insecure about your own list that you have to go around bashing the way another list is run? My whole point is, your not on the list anymore, you left. So what is it to you if they have a policy that you don't agree with? What business is it of yours??
I know this is your journal. You can write whatever you want. But, if you didn't want people to see your journal, and see you bashing tallific, you'd write about it in a private journal. Come on now, who are you really kidding here? Nobody but yourself!
Your dragging in members of tallific by bashing them. What do you think? People are just going to sit idly by while you bash something that is important to them? There is a thing called loyalty. Not to mention, by Spooks having this no-lurking rule, it gives everyone the opportunity to get to know one another and to have fun here. Not only have 3 or 4 people out of 56 posting on a regular basis and snobbery being alive and well. If someone doesn't like the no-lurking rule, they can leave, nobody says they have to stay. Oh wait, you already know that don't you. ;)

First of all Kris, I am glad you are happy on tallific, I to have enjoyed being on there for the past couple of months, I too have made some wonderful friends on this list. These were people who were there for me when I lost two cats within weeks of each other, who constantly push me to become a better writer...They do this by doing a simple little thing called telling me whether or not they are enjoying a fic. Yes there are times when I feel people aren't reading a story, but when that happens I know it's most often cause of time restriants because I have the best BETA out there (Spooks) and she wouldn't hesitate to tell me if a story completely sucked ass, something she has done before.

As far as comments about other lists in LJ's I think it is a little immature to take your frustrations out in public like this...

I also think that there is a lot of snobbery that goes on in Metslash, mostly due to the fact that because I am not a fan of certain pairings I am an outsider...and in tallific I have never been made to feel that way.

As for your attacking Kris...well I think that that is a little petty. It is wrong for you to attack people you barely know...I am loyal, and when you become my friend you stay that way until you break my trust, and you all know what you did to betray that trust.

Snobbery, LJs, and the rest

Snobbery in metslash because you like James/Kirk? That's news to me. A majority of us on the list happen to like a lot of pairings and yes, James/Kirk is one of them for me, even though Jason/James is dominant, but personally, I don't recall looking down at someone for the pairings they liked.

I criticized James/Kirk in my journal because back then, it was the dominant pairing in Metallica slash and because I tended to dislike the characterization of most stories, not because I disliked the pairing itself. I tend to want more pairings in any fandom and, if I'm writing in that fandom, then I don't stick to one pairing, but to each her own, I guess.

Our LiveJournals are a place where we talk about the things that affect us, positively or negatively, and that we choose to comment on it in public is not immature or childish. It's merely our opinions and reactions to certain events put in a public forum.

As for us attacking Kris, well, how exactly did anyone do that? Melle and Ruth merely responded to her comments and no one bashed what she said or denied that she had a point; they merely disagreed with her. Seeing that as an attack just reinforces my belief that voicing an opinion different from the norm is unacceptable in most RPS fandoms, especially this one, which is sad for fandom in general. Having a dissenting opinion shouldn't label you a flamer, a bitch, or an immature child.

Despite your thinking we're psychics, none of us, especially me, know what we did to betray that trust. Should you find time to inform us of this, it'd be much appreciated.

I said something in my LJ but I didn't used names...it was a little thing called tact! I got into this discussion because I saw my FRIENDS being attacked and I didn't agree with it. I did the same thing when I was on your list and they attacked you all on the metallica boards, I am one thing if not loyal.

Nope

No point was missed.

I understand it's what you're looking to read right now, I was just pointing out why I wouldn't trust you to read what I wrote.

Other than that, I'm sorry, but I'm finding this one hell of giggle.

But as somebody else said, I'm weird like that.
