The listmom of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fan fiction list I was on, emphasis on the past tense, said that although she hates to be an "uber bitch" about it, she's going to require people to post fic or feedback to stay on the list.

If you want people on your list to talk, you post discussion topics or write fic yourself, you don't force people to participate. We're in this for fun. If we care enough about the fandom to participate, we will. If we don't, we won't. But that should be our choice. We should be allowed to hang out and watch what goes on until we have something to add. And if we never have anything to add, that should be okay too. Participation or non-participation of list members does not determine the moral worth of the listmom.

I couldn't agree more, Ruth. I actually had some people email me privately wondering if they were going to be kicked off because they don't write X number of emails a month. Geez. not everyone can participate all the time, nor should they be required to. Glad i'm not a L&O fan.

Me too

Just piping up to agree with you 100%. It's actually kind of annoying to feel you have to post. I mean, I know I post a lot to the lists I'm on, but that's me, I have time to do it. I know other people don't, and that's fine. I know I have a lot of lurkers on the lists I run and that doesn't bother me at all.

It should be a choice, not a dictate to post on a list. I use my choice to post, and I respect others' choices not to.
