I keep thinking about Brownie coming to visit in Dallas (maybe during the post-season), and he keeps trying to do things like clean up and cook for Tyler, and there's all this tension and it isn't working. They're cooking and sort of fighting when Jamie and Jordie come over for dinner.

"Uh, is this a good time?" Jamie asks. "We can come back later."

"It's fine," Tyler says, and then Brownie just loses it.

"Yeah," he says, "fine." He drops the knife he was using on the counter. "Jamie can help you cook." As he pushes past the Benns, he calls back, "I'm taking your car," and then just leaves.

Jordie is the one to pick up the knife Brownie left behind while Jamie says, "Sorry."

Tyler shrugs and blinks away the beginnings of tears. "We've been fighting all week. It's usually so easy."

Jamie puts his arm around Tyler's shoulders. "We can stay out of your way if we're making it worse."

"No," Tyler says. "I want him to know you. He'd really like you if he'd stop being an ass about it."

They've eaten and the Benns have gone home by the time Brownie gets back. Tyler's sitting on the couch with Marshall's head in his lap, and he listens to Brownie kick off his shoes and drop Tyler's keys back into the bowl, waits for Brownie to come around the couch and sit on the other end of it.

Marshall raises his head to look at Brownie, but stays cuddled up with Tyler.

"I don't even know what you want from me," Tyler says without looking directly at Brownie.

"Just let me take care of you," Brownie says, "like Jamie and Jordie do."

"Fuck you," Tyler says. "They don't take care of me. We hang out because they're my boys and it's fun. I take care of myself. I have a fucking cleaning service, and I can cook for myself. I'm in the fucking playoffs if you haven't noticed. I don't need anyone to take care of me."

"I know you don't," Brownie says. "Would you just let me anyways?" And this time he sounds more desperate and pleading than mad.

And then there would be talking and negotiating and they would figure out that taking care of Tyler is a Thing for Brownie and that Tyler is okay with it as long as they're both clear that he doesn't need it.

Is Konan a real name? Because that's hilarious. :D (also would you happen to have the link to that one primer where someone had collected twitter things about all Segs' bros/harem members? I remember it being super helpful but I can't find it anymore) Ew, about the kind of company these guys keep, but yes to adorable thanksgivings.

Haha~ maybe I should have checked that before mentioning the story. :D I have the worst name memory, I just can't keep that stuff in my head... But yes, it's so fascinating! Like how much of it is just mental in a non sexual way. Like a state of mind, which is usually mentioned when it comes to subspace. Also how it all boils down to trust in the end and that is so interesting to me personally, because I'm not a trusting person.

It can be, at least that's what the person who wrote the article mentioned. Obviously it's then tied to some other dynamics I'd imagine, like maybe praise kink or just general submissiveness. But yes, I like the more independent/active kind (I don't know what word I'm looking for) a whole lot more, as applied to this pairing.

Because I'd love to read an epic fic where Brownie is Segs' service top, like from the beginning where they discover what they need and want together over the years (also separately, of course, if this is rl compliant) and maybe they have to take a break or two in the middle because they just can't seem to figure it out and all the distance and the open relationship status is stressful and they both have to and want to concentrate on hockey and life keeps happening etc.

and maybe Segs can't find a top who get's him like Brownie does (it's good with them and he get's off, but afterwards when he looks back at the scene it's never quite right/perfect) and maybe nobody really understands Brownie's need to take care of them [does he get too intense about it? does it feel like too much, if you can't compete with that? Like all the romantic things he did with his gf, if she (not the real person obviously) could never do anything as nice.]

I've re-read this comment twice and it makes almost no sense, but I also can't seem to fix it. I think I'm overcome with feelings... Sorry, I hope you don't regret your last line already. ^_^;
