Hip-hop Transgendered and Rural
May. 10th, 2007 09:35 pmDo what now?
I kept hearing a song on the radio, and I couldn't quite figure out who that woman singing it was. I finally got around to looking up the lyrics. The song is "SexyBack." By Justin Timberlake.
Not A Royal
Have I mentioned here that I like Fergie (the singer)? I do. I like that she named her album The Dutchess. "London Bridge" has some hideous lyrics, but it's catchy. "Fergalicious" is awesome. "Glamorous" is similarly awesome. There's a lyric in it that says, "when I had a Mustang." There's a little hitch between "Must" and "ang," and the first couple of weeks I was hearing it, I kept expecting the word to be "mustache."
Signs Your Hip-Hop Station Isn't That Street
I usually get to work at 8 or a few minutes before or after. Today, I had to go to Kinko's before work (they couldn't complete my order before because they were out of paper), so I ended up in the car a little later. The result of this is that I heard the local hip-hop station's teaser for what was coming up in the next hour. Mixed in between the other sort of thing you might expect was a "Glenn County Fair Family Four-Pack."

Date: 2007-05-11 10:59 am (UTC)It's even funnier to hear him in that new song w/ Nelly Furtado and Timberland. It's like, "there's a woman singing. Now a man. The woman again. And now... uh... um....?"

Date: 2007-05-11 01:20 pm (UTC)It's an atrocious video too, all black and white and endless, I find it harder and harder to understand some of my (girl)friends' enduring love for him...
And Ruth, Glenn county is totally the hood, I'm sure they have lots of...erm, I don't think this joke is even believable to continue with.

Date: 2007-05-12 06:27 am (UTC)Apparently a very very distant cousin of mine owns the bar in Hamilton City (like so distant we only know we're related because Grandma is into geneology stuff) so it must be cool?
