This space (not) for rent: A poll.
May. 3rd, 2006 08:32 pmI'm feeling dumped on and/or unappreciated in pretty much every part of my life, and I've been thinking about what the heck I'm doing with this journal.
Please do not misinterpret this as "Tell me you love me or I'll never write again." Quite the contrary. I still wholeheartedly believe that people should write whatever they want whenever they want, and I've been spending most of my free time writing longhand. (I've been less sociable because of it. I don't want to do anything to interrupt the flow of it, and it's harder to go from typing, such as IM, to writing longhand than it is to go from typing to writing on the computer.) I am absolutely writing, and I still have things I want to say.
What I'm really questioning is the medium of LJ. I do have a perfectly good webpage, and I can write my own html. LJ's advantage is that you know (somewhat) that someone's reading and they can pretty easily talk to you about what you've written. The flip side of that is that it sets you up to start expecting people to talk about what you've written. No one's talking to me about what I've written, and with the way that makes me feel, I wonder if I'd be better going back to posting things to my webpage and not worrying or thinking about whether or not anyone will ever read or comment.
So this is your chance to tell me what you think. As usual with such polls, I make no promises to do what you suggest. Consider this an extremely non-binding straw poll.
Note 1: Please do not misinterpret this as "Tell me you love me or I'll never write again." Scroll back up to the top of the entry to read the long explanation about this.
Note 2: "Whatever you want to do" is not an option in the poll. I will, of course, do whatever I want to do in the end. The subject here is what you would want to see here if you were in charge.
Note 3: As always, anonymous commenting is on and IP logging is off, so if you want to say something about this or tell me to stop whining and don't feel comfortable putting your name to it, please feel free to do so anonymously.
