On posting fic in LJ: A poll.
Mar. 12th, 2006 08:38 pmI'm being encouraged to post something I wrote into comments on an entry, which has me thinking about the trend towards fic being posted mostly or only in LJs. (I'm also not sure if it's a real fic, but that's perhaps a different issue.) So here's a poll about the subject. I make no promises about following the majority vote.

I'm all about the cut for stories, though. I don't usually mind long posts, but I prefer stories to be cut, regardless of length or rating. I'm kind of irrational about that, though. :D

Date: 2006-03-14 05:54 am (UTC)Huh. I haven't cut ficcish bits before because I haven't really been thinking about my stuff on other people's friends pages. I tend to think of my LJ as one isolated thing, when that's really not what it is. The rational bit: If you want to scroll down and read all the other stuff on your friends page before you read the fic, then go back to the fic, then you don't want to accidentally catch the ending of the fic while you're doing that.

I'd not thought about that, but that's also a very good reason. Plus, I'm slightly neurotic and prefer to read fic in its own window, rather than sandwiched between someone's work angst (hi! :D) and someone else's linkspam, say. Call it a matter of respect for the story. Or possibly something that makes more sense.
