There were several people in black at the last cousin wedding. In that case, it was a bad, bad idea because it was outside in the middle of the afternoon in the middle of summer. This one will be outside in the early evening in fall, so maybe black will work better.

Or maybe it won't be. My mom called at 8 am this morning to let me know that the wedding has been "postponed." This is the wedding that was supposed to be today at 5 pm.

The only thing I think that's still verboten is for someone other than the bride to wear white.

I think it's become a complicated question. Definitely a no-no if people might suspect you harbor feelings for one (or both) of the couple. But, I've worn a largely black dress to two weddings, both of them were in the evening which made it more okay (and it had a big cream design on it anyway). I think it's just important that it doesn't look like something you could wear to somebody's funeral...
