Happy Halloween! Welcome to the fifteenth annual edition of virtual trick-or-treating.



Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a song, or something else I come up with in the moment. oh look, it's a red door! I like it, even if (or maybe because) it's slightly creepy - suits the date.

hit me with something interesting - maybe a song, or a picture you think I must see! but after all these years you do have an idea of the sort of things I like, so anything will be grand

The secret is that I thought drawing something would be faster than looking for a picture, and I did think that the creepiness was holiday appropriate.

For you, a fic rec: On the Island of Misfit Toys by slybrarian is a Generation Kill/SGA crossover where Nate ends up on Atlantis taking on increasing amounts of responsibility. If you like the writing, I've enjoyed several of slybrarian's other works, including this GK/Star Trek fusion.

For you, if you don't already know about them, I enjoyed watching this four-minute video about a pair of Two Spirit sweetheart dancers. They have a whole website and apparently they've done some cool modeling work too.

Happy Halloween! For you an unrelated to canon food snippet:

"It smells good in here." Carson puts his briefcase down and follows the scent of food to the kitchen.

"I made dinner." Ryan gestures him toward the table.

Carson raises his eyebrows and follows Ryan to sit down across from him. "You made dinner? Is this like how you washed dishes when it was your turn?"

"No," Ryan protests. "Okay," he relents, "Ace helped me a little. But I did most of it myself."

Carson shakes his head, more amused than anything else. "If you say so."

"I did." Ryan dishes food out onto two plates. Pasta with a hearty sauce, salad, basket of garlic bread between them.

Ryan watches him while takes a bite.

Carson looks down at his plate. "This is good."

"You don't have to sound so surprised." The corners of Ryan's mouth tug up into a smile.

"Well, you're definitely going on the chore wheel for dinner more often," Carson says.

Dismay twists Ryan's face for a moment before he sighs and pushes the garlic bread toward Carson. "Fine, I guess."

Carson grins at him. "Hey, Nancy might be too busy to make it to dinner, but I'm not going to miss out on this while I have the chance."

Ryan ducks his head a little and smiles.
