Happy Halloween! Welcome to the fourteenth annual edition of virtual trick-or-treating.

Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a song, or something else I come up with in the moment. Lurkers and anonymous trick-or-treaters are welcome! (But if you're posting anonymously or with a DW account that is completely friends-locked and you want a treat specific to your interests, let me know something about why you know me.)

Date: 2022-11-01 02:04 am (UTC)"This was my second sexual awakening," Dan says, gesturing at the TV with his beer.
"Top Gun was your sexual awakening?" Casey asks. "Weren't you a little old for that when it came out?"
"Top Gun was my second sexual awakening," Dan says. "I was fifteen, and this scene," he gestures at the TV again, "made me realize that men were hot and that they could be hot together."
Casey pauses with his beer halfway to his mouth. "Men?"
"Mmmhmm." Dan doesn't look away. "Shirtless and oiled up and muscled. And touching each other."
"You." Casey puts his beer down. "You like men?"
"Yes." Now Dan does look at him. "You know that."
"I most certainly do not."
"You most certainly do. I know I told you about Jason and Doug, and you met Brian."
Casey struggles to put those names into any sort of context. "Brian your friend in college?"
"My boyfriend," Dan says. "Come on, Case, you know this."
"I do not," Casey says. "You didn't say he was your boyfriend." He's sure of that; he would have remembered that.
"I didn't think I needed to," Dan says. "It was the 90s. I thought we had an unspoken understanding."
"Why," Casey asks, "would we have an unspoken understanding?"
"Because you're bisexual too," Dan says.
"I am not bisexual."
Dan frowns at him. "Are you sure?"
"Am I sure?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Danny, I'm sure that I know my own sexuality well enough to know that I am not bisexual. I was married to Lisa for ten years."
"Bisexual people are still bisexual when they're in opposite-sex relationships," Dan says. "You're really not bi?"
"I'm really not," Casey confirms.
"Huh."
Casey goes to the video store around the corner and rents Top Gun. He feels furtive about it, and then silly about feeling furtive when the clerk says, "Classic, man."
He starts it from the beginning, really paying attention in a way that he also feels silly about. And then there's the volleyball scene.
He really thinks about it, pays attention to the men, shirtless and shining, their muscles, the way they touch. They're good-looking. Casey is secure enough in his masculinity to admit when a man is attractive, and these are very attractive men.
He does not, as a rule, spend time contemplating men's attractiveness, but he's doing it now, and it comes much easier than he thought it would.
They are very attractive men.
Casey rewinds and watches the scene again. Dan was into this. This made Danny realize he liked men. Casey rewinds and watches it a third time, and this time he thinks about Danny. He thinks about Danny shirtless and sweaty and about Danny shirtless and sweaty with him
"Casey," Dan says.
"Dan." Casey kicks off his shoes, hands up his jacket on the hook that is always free for him, and follows Dan into the living room.
"What brings you to my apartment on this fine evening?"
"I came to say something I very rarely say to you."
"Casey, you're not dying are you?"
"No, Danny, I am not dying." Casey tips his head. "I did say it was something I rarely say to you, not something I've never said to you."
"Well, if it's something you only rarely say to me," Dan says.
"I am here," Casey says, "to tell you that I was wrong and you were right."
"You do very rarely say that," Dan says. "Does this mean you're ready to admit I'm right about soccer?"
"No," Casey says. "You're still wrong about soccer." He takes a deep breath. "I'm having a second sexual awakening."
"A second sexual awakening?" Dan asks.
"A second sexual awakening," Casey affirms. "I watched Top Gun."
"You watched Top Gun," Dan says, "and you had a second sexual awakening."
"Yes," Casey says. "I'm bisexual."
"You're bisexual."
"I'm bisexual," Casey repeats. "You were right."
"You're not going to try to use your connections to get Tom Cruise's number are you?"
"No, I am not going to try to get Tom Cruise's number."
"Val Kilmer's?"
"No," Casey says. "I am not going to try to use my connections to get anyone's number. That's not what's important here."
"Casey," Dan says without following it up with anything.
"Danny," Casey says, holding out his hand, "take me to bed or lose me forever."
