Virtual Trick-or-Treating
Oct. 31st, 2021 08:04 amHappy Halloween! Welcome to the thirteenth annual edition of virtual trick-or-treating.

Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a song, or something else I come up with in the moment. Lurkers and anonymous trick-or-treaters are welcome! (But if you're posting anonymously or with a DW account that is completely friends-locked and you want a treat specific to your interests, let me know something about why you know me.)

Date: 2021-10-31 09:09 pm (UTC)I always worry when reccing things that maybe the person already knows about it, so I'm giving you two treats in hopes that at least one of them will be new to you:
First, this two-minute guacamole recipe TikTok. I have watched this at least ten times, and it lives rent-free in my head. I frequently find myself going about my day and suddenly thinking, "More onion!" or, "I am going to use a hundred and twenty-five," in her voice.
Secondly, if you are at all interested in serial numbers filed off hockey fic as published books, I can recommend the Game Changers series by Rachel Reid. Heated Rivalry is very clearly a Sid/Ovi story, and I'm 90% sure Troy in Role Model is a wish fulfillment JToews. I'm guessing the rest of them are also slightly fictionalized real hockey players I just didn't recognize. I don't necessarily think they're worth buying (the first four really are much more like fic than real books; the writing gets much more solidly book-like in the fifth one), but luckily your local library shows holdings for all five of them via Overdrive/Libby and they are worth checking out from a library if they sound interesting.

Date: 2021-11-01 12:27 am (UTC)ok, that guacamole tutorial is demented and fabulous - thank you so much for linking to the best two-minutes I've had today
also, the book series rec - I have been known to read serial numbers filed off hockey fic as published books, though hadn't checked this author out. I shall probably take a look, to see which players I recognize *g*

Date: 2021-11-01 12:46 am (UTC)I think you would enjoy this post of gay weddings from various cultures (and if you've seen it before, I hope you enjoy revisiting it).
Since I'm recommending books for Halloween too this year, you might enjoy Jordan L. Hawk's Whyborne & Griffin series. It's eleven novels and four novellas that are gay and supernatural and funny. One of the things I liked about it is that Whyborne and Griffin's relationship is really solid and healthy. I also enjoyed reading the about the author bits in each book and following his gender transition from woman to nonbinary person to trans man. How wonderful that we live in a world where someone can not only make that transition but do it so publicly!

Date: 2021-11-01 01:33 am (UTC)The only thing I can think about when I see the Venom in a salad spinner art is that that's his punishment in an even more d/s-y version of the a squishy likes being squished universe. Sometimes Venom acts out in ways that will definitely make Eddie put them in the salad spinner. Eddie keeps pushing the button to make it spin and spin and spin, and by the time Eddie lets it come to a stop, Venom is just all spun out and wobbly. And then Eddie tips Venom out into a weirdly satisfied puddle, maybe on top of his cock so he can use Venom like a squishy lube to get himself off after that, and then they snuggle and Eddie lets Venom eat a criminal and/or a bunch of chocolate. (Venom doesn't understand Halloween and never lets Eddie give away the candy Eddie plans to give to trick-or-treaters.)
