I started watching Angel season 2 today.

3. I can't decide who's gayer: Lorne or Andrew.
   
4. Angel singing "Mandy" is just about the funniest thing ever. Why did anyone ever try to make David Boreanaz do anything serious?
   
5. Angel visiting Faith in prison. Dude. Where is the good Faith/Angel?
   
6. I love Angel's theme song. I find Buffy's kind of irritating.
   
7. Angel in the Hyperion in 1952. One of his neighbors hiding secrets is gay. I heard at Escapade that Joss has said that in Angel season 6, Spike and Angel were gonna hook up. I hope he was going to reference that scene with them.
   
8. I've found myself oddly resistant to Buffy. I can watch the show and love it, but I'm not passionately loving it. It's like I just won't let myself fall head over heels into the Buffy love, and I don't know why. I love Angel. Perhaps not passionately, but more unreservedly than I love Buffy.

Angel Investigations blew up at the end of season one. Thanks to the bad guy Wolfram & Hart were trying to use to eliminate Angel.

I know I watched all of season 1, and not that long ago, but I seriously have no recollection of it.

I, too, enjoyed Angel's theme song way more than Buffy's.

Violins of Doom is the best song ever. Buffy's is all so-cal guitar thrashing, which is grating after four or five seasons. But I wanted to be in a high school orchestra just so that I could beg a violinist to learn it.

Oh, God. Now I'm having high school violinist AU ideas. I have no idea who in what universe it would be appropriate for.

Um. Maybe Spike's a hard core rocker, but on the side he plays the violin and he doesn't want anyone to know about it.

Maybe he's really really good and his parents are making him be in the Junior Orchestra and so he's the bad boy of the Junior Orchestra. He smokes out back in the middle of rehearsal and such. Willow thinks he's cool, but she can't smoke because she plays the clarinet. Oz could even play the upright bass! But the story is of course about how Spike falls for Willow, even though he tells his badass friends that all the kids in the orchestra are losers, and he secretly goes to see her sometimes (because the last thing he would want to do is make his parents happy like that) and Buffy warns Willow that this guy is bad news, but she keeps seeing him anyway.

But even though he protests, he secretly loves the violin.

Angel is one of his badass friends, but he knows about Spike's violin love, and he teases Spike about it. But only in private, because he knows how important it is for no one else to know about it. And then there'd have to be some kind of Angel-and-Willow scene where they meet and Angel sees what Spike likes in her.

Buffy the cheerleader? And maybe Xander as, well, Xander, with the comic-book reading and being Willow's best friend since they were kids.

Wait, no Xander/Oz? No Oz assuming that he's Willow's boyfriend because Oz is homeschooled and Xander comes to all of their concerts and sometimes picks Willow up from practice and Willow is the only one who knows that Xander likes boys? And Xander sleeps over sometimes (because his parents don't care and her parents have sort of adopted him) and confesses that he thinks Oz is supercute.

Meanwhile, Angel has a leather jacket and Buffy is a cheerleader and they snark at each other (because they're secretly excited by each other) and then have sex in the back of his car after a pep rally.

I don't know. I'm seeing Xander thinking Angel's cool and always making a fool out of himself in front of him, and Angel just watches him silently and lights up a cigarette.

Right, but then, when they did hook up, Xander would have to hang out with Angel's friends, who would be mean to him, and Angel wouldn't quite mesh with Xander's friends. Oz is in this band, and those guys are pretty cool, and they get along with Willow. Plus, Oz's bedroom is over the garage and he has his own entrance

Okay, so how about this: Xander and Angel hook up. Oz sees them kissing and finds out that (a) Xander and Willow are not together and (b) Xander likes boys. Then Angel's friends are mean to Xander, and even though Xander really likes Angel and Angel really likes Xander, they realize that this just isn't healthy, so they break up. And then Xander and Oz hook up.

Throw in a scene where Xander and Oz are hanging out, lying side-by-side on Oz's bed, and Oz is cursing himself for getting himself into tempting situations like that, and then asks about Angel, to remind himself that Xander is off-limits, and Xander says that he and Angel aren't together ... anymore. Then there is a hesitant chat about how Oz isn't with anyone either, but he would like to be, and maybe Xander would like to be too, and then very careful kissing. And I'm sold.

There you go! And Angel takes his somewhat-broken heart and meets this older guy with a motorcycle who, it turns out, is actually a serious college student. And even as he's really enjoying making out with Wesley, he keeps wondering why it is that he keeps falling for these geeky types when he's such a badass. It must be Spike's fault.

Spike finds it *hilarious*. But Wes is super cool and Angel goes to keep him company in the library and he's suddenly thinking about going to college. And then summer comes and he and Wes take a motorcycle trip out to the middle of nowhere and get a hotel room near the Grand Canyon and have a lot of sex and don't think about anything and it's fantastic.

And in the meantime, Spike and Willow are still just in the talking and hanging out and being shy together stage. They practice together, her on the clarinet and him on the violin, and even though they really do mean to just be practicing, it makes both of them hot and flustered, and there's a little bit of kissing before Spike packs up his violin and goes home.

"I want to," Willow says to Xander, "but what if he doesn't want to? What if it makes everything all weird and ooky?"

Willow will just start rhapsodizing about how very good he is. And one of his friends says something mean about her and Spike just pounces and starts beating on the guy and Angel has to pull him off and away and he drags him across the street into his car and Spike's bleeding and breathing hard and hysterical about how they can't talk about her like that, they don't know her, and she's too good for them! And Angel has to work to calm him down and then at the end of it, he says very quietly, "You have to tell her. You know that, right?" And Spike just nods and looks down.

Then Spike comes over for practice, like always, and Willow opens the door and he's got this ugly cut on his eyebrow. And she just flies right over to him and touches it and asks if he's all right and he loves her so much and he tells her, right there on the front steps, because he can't hold it in.

And then they're seriously kissing. And Spike's been around the block, but he's never kissed anyone like this, and Willow's certainly never been kissed like this.

All their awkwardness doesn't matter now, because they go down the hall to Willow's bedroom, and her parents aren't home from work yet, and they have sex, and it's wonderful, and afterwards they can't stop touching each other, and Willow kisses the cut on his eyebrow.

Meanwhile, Angel and Buffy have hatesex almost every night, until one day his cousin Faith shows up and his parents invite her to live with them. Faith and he go back a long time and she was the first person he came out to about being bi, but preferring guys. She's always been bi, and helped him through that transition. As such, she's so completely flabbergasted that he's still destroying his life by having meaningless, hateful sex with someone he really hates, so she goes over to Buffy's house to give her a piece of her mind.

And then they have sex.

And then Faith goes home, more confused than ever about this Buffy chick. Who is she?
