I had a lot of Fred/Segs being married feelings last night, and had to tell myself a story about them as I was falling asleep.

Segs falls for Fred, basically at first sight, but doesn't quite realize that's what it is until much later. This would also be the Segs' meltdown really is a sexuality crisis story, so he kind of turns into a mess when he really does recognize it. Like, he even bought a house for Fred. It's for him and Marshall too, but he he probably wouldn't have bought the house if it weren't the three of them. But then he gets traded, and this party that was supposed to be 4th of July/housewarming/video shoot party turns into a going away party, and he has to watch people pour things on Fred and run their hands through his hair, all while Tyler's trying to stay out of the shot, and it just makes everything worse. And then he has to delete his Twitter because of it. But then he goes home to Toronto, and that, at least is good.

He's kind of moping a bit one night when everyone's in town they all go out for dinner, and everyone else thinks it's still about losing in the Final and getting traded, but Brownie comes home with Tyler and asks, "What's up with you?"

Brownie's his best friend and has the right to ask that, so Tyler says, "I think I might be gay. Or bi. Or something."

Brownie looks at him like he's waiting for something. Tyler doesn't say anything else because he doesn't know what else Brownie wants from him.

"Oh," Brownie says after a moment. "Are you just figuring that out? Is this you coming out to me? Because, dude, I know."

"What do you mean you know?"

"I've known you since you were sixteen. I know you're bi or whatever." And while Tyler's trying to absorb that, Brownie says, a lot more carefully, "Is this about Fred?"

Tyler spills to him about Fred and having to leave him and everything.

"You could go for it," Brownie says. "Long distance isn't easy, but you can do it. And you've already lived together, so you know doing that won't screw things up." He sounds bitter about that, and Tyler guiltily remembers that Brownie's probably still hurting from his breakup with Julie.

He doesn't talk to Fred about it, but he does go down to Boston one more time to really say goodbye and make sure he has all his stuff, and to make sure Fred knows he can still live in the house.

Tyler sees Fred when they play in Boston, and Fred comes to visit him over his winter break, which is pretty great.

And then they're Skyping in March and Fred says, "I have to start looking for a job. I was thinking about maybe looking for one in Dallas."

Tyler, of course, jumps on that and tells him he should totally look for a job in Dallas, and that Marshall will be thrilled if Fred comes to live with them again. Fred laughs at that, and they smile at each other a lot.

The Stars make the playoffs, but get swept in the first round. The only good thing is that Tyler and Marshall can fly from Dallas to Boston and be there for Fred's graduation. They get rid of or pack up everything in the house, because Tyler's going to sell it now that Fred doesn't need it either, and they road trip back to Dallas so Fred will have his car. They also go house hunting and Tyler buys a place in a nice neighborhood that's isolated enough from the neighbors for them to party as loud as they want and that has a pool and a giant backyard for Marshall to run around in.

They get all moved in, but Fred doesn't have a job yet - Tyler doesn't care if he never gets one, but he thinks Fred kind of does, so he doesn't push too hard for Fred to just chill - so they fly up to Toronto for a couple of weeks. It's Brendan who says something to them, in the middle of the afternoon when Fred and Tyler are both on the floor playing with Marshall, the three of them getting tangled up in each other and Fred and Tyler laughing a lot.

"Would you just fuck already and put all of us out of our misery?"

Tyler stops laughing and stares at Fred, who's staring back at him.

"Okay, we're leaving now," Brownie says, getting Brendan and Jesse off the couch and hustling them toward the door. "You two work your shit out."

Then Tyler and Fred stumble through a conversation about how they're totally into each other. Tyler blushes a lot, because he does that, and Fred doesn't because he never does.

"Hey," Fred says, reaching across Marshall to push at Tyler's shoulder, "I'm going to take you on a date."

Tyler laughs, because, really, a date? But Fred does, and then they go home and make out a lot, and just, like, jerk each other off, because they're both new to this having sex with a dude thing.

"Our house is really big for just the two of us," Fred says afterwards, when there's sweat and come drying on their skin and they're still touching and making out a little. "We could take in a rookie."

"I don't think they'll let me," Tyler says. He kisses Fred some more. "And it'll be cool to be just us for a while."

"That'll be nice," Fred says. He smirks at Tyler. "And we don't want to traumatize them with how loud you're going to be."

"Me?" Tyler says with a laugh. "You're the one who's going to be loud."

"Nope, totally you," Fred says, and then even though it's too soon for either of them to get it up again, they do their best to make each other be loud.

And then they live happily ever after in their house in Dallas with their dog.
