Danny Briere Appreciation Post

I keep thinking maybe I should just do a real primer, but that would involve too much hockey research, so instead you get occasional posts gushing over pictures and videos.
First, Danny being adorable.

Yeah, shirtless dudes are not really my thing, but this baffled and fascinated me when it showed up on Tumblr. There's a whole set of them from some sort of "team bonding excursion" to Florida in 2009. There's video too, but it's not very interesting. What is interesting, and which I noticed more clearly in this than in other things, is that Danny was much softer/rounder before his divorce. I don't know if it was just an age thing, if the divorce aged him, or if he lost weight when he had to try to feed himself (he's on record as saying he can't cook), but something happened.

This is an interview after his game-winning OT goal in a Flyers/Sabres Game 1 in 2006. I cannot get over how pretty he is here.
I don't really recommend watching all of this video - it's not that interesting - but near the beginning, Danny gets squished between a bunch of his teammates and looks perfectly happy to be there.
You may or may not be able to watch this. I had to stop it the first time I tried, but the second time I just found it amusing. The first half is Mike Richards being annoyed and cranky about the All-Star voting process, and the second half is Danny gushing about how great a player Mike is.
This is an ad Danny did where he's being competent in black and white. Yes, please, more of this kind of thing forever. There's an interview on the Flyers site I watched only part of (because it wasn't very interesting) where Danny says that people still (as of the time of the interview) say he's too small to be playing hockey.
Moving on, Danny being adorable with children.

I can't tell the older two (Caelan and Carson) apart, but the kid in the middle of the picture is Cameron. According to the source, this is from May 2010. You know why that matters? Because that's about when Danny asked Claude to move in.

I have no idea when this is from, but I can only imagine it's a time when the kids were taking fashion advice from Claude.

The original source claims this is Danny and one of his kids, but the kid is the wrong age. The place I got it from said it's his nephew, which seems more likely. It is all the way freakin' adorable.
This video of Danny throwing out the first pitch at a Phillies game on September 27, 2007 is terrible in nearly every way, but if you skip to the very, very end, he walks over and gives the ball to the kids who (a) are tiny and (b) fight over it.
This is the video I was watching on a Friday night when I had to pause it and throw my hands up in the air and say, "I can't even!" Danny is the only person who crouches down to be on the same level as the kid they're talking to. He tells the kid he likes working with numbers so he'd probably be doing something financial if he weren't a hockey player. And the background music through the whole thing is Hanson's "MMMBop."
Thirdly, Danny being adorable with Claude.

The dudes behind them? Their dads. This is from the Flyers Dads weekend in October 2009. (This is the picture that made me wonder how terrible a person I am if I would read/write the story where Danny cheated on his ex-wife with/left her for Claude.)

This is from the shoot for the cover of SJ Magazine's February 2011 issue, the issue where Danny and Claude are the celebrity guests in their article on dating in South Jersey. (You can see the whole cover here.) The best part about it is that everyone who reblogged it with commentary on Tumblr couldn't figure out why they're not either holding hands or making out.

Gambling in Atlantic City in May 2011. (Source) I know I have seen pictures of Danny wearing that shirt elsewhere, but then I couldn't find them.

Golfing in June 2012. Ugh, look at them.
You have to watch carefully, but Claude (in plaid, of course) comes through the door at about two minutes in, and then Danny looks over at him and absolutely lights up, even though it's completely inappropriate for the interview he's giving.

Family matters for Flyers' Briere, Giroux (you have to click through to part two) from January 2011 (a golden era of Brioux coverage) is totally useful. It covers the infamous furniture shopping trip, tells us that Danny kept the house in the divorce, and has Danny telling us both that Claude's room is a mess and:

"We have rules," Briere said with a smirk. "Especially when the boys have school the next day."In logic world, that does not require the smirk it apparently does in Brioux-land.
