Alternate post title: Fandom: Someone's Doing It Wrong

I'm now caught up on Teen Wolf, although if I really want to be involved in it, I should probably start over and rewatch it all from the beginning because I wasn't paying that much attention the first time around. You can talk to me about it all you want, though. (Warning: comments to this post may contain spoilers.) The thing is that I don't really understand the fandom. A pair of lists:

Teen Wolf fic I want to read:

Teen Wolf fic people write:

If you want to try the show out, you should be aware that Derek/Stiles only starts making sense at season one episode nine, and if it still doesn't make sense, the explanation is that Derek/Stiles is this decade's Spike/Xander. (I still don't understand why the OTP of the show isn't Scott/Stiles, but at least I understand the dynamic fandom loves.)

I mean, I get that Derek/Stiles is this decade's Spike/Xander, but really, fandom? Nothing else?

I can't deal with Jackson, the loneliest person on the planet. Even when he's with people who are ostensibly his friends, he's still the most walled-off person ever!

Apparently fandom-at-large hates Jackson? BUT I DO NOT! I want some lonely!Jackson/competent-and-excellent!Danny. Lots of it. Always.

I'm confused. Because all I saw all over the internet yesterday were people saying, "Everyone hates Jackson, but I love him." Where are these mythical people who hate Jackson?

My flist was only people saying JUST THAT about Jackson, so I think it's a RUSE. I am not sure WHOSE RUSE, but I ruse nonetheless.

I might actually write some of that at some point, but I need MOAR DANNY for a deent characterization, and god help me, I don't want to watch S1... sigh.

You should write that! You could watch only the Danny parts of S1.
