Virtual Trick-Or-Treating

Happy Halloween! This is the third year I've done this, and it's always fun.

Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a song, or something else I come up with in the moment.

Date: 2011-10-31 10:30 pm (UTC)Bebe was born a wolf. It was different in ways Pete couldn't ever understand no matter how many times he asked her about it.
"I don't see why I can't be an alpha," he sulked. Pete was a pretty impressive sulker, and Bebe didn't think it was from constant exposure to a toddler.
"Because you aren't," Bebe said. "That's just the way things are."
"But you can be an alpha. Is that a born wolf thing?"
"No," Bebe said for at least the fifteenth time. At least she was getting practice if she ever wanted to have kids. "It's a personality thing. We just don't know because I'm not old enough." Alphas bred true in her line, but female alphas were rare enough that they couldn't be sure until she hit her majority. It just sucked that it was so much later for wolves than humans.
"Patience," her dad always said. "We live so much longer that the extra years are nothing."
It was hard to be patient when she was already stretching herself out into the adult human world.
"I'm old enough," Pete said. "And I have tons of personality."
He was starting to give Bebe a headache. "Pete," she snapped, "give it a rest," and he actually did. Maybe she was going to be an alpha after all.

Date: 2011-10-31 10:30 pm (UTC)Spencer let himself into the house and dropped his duffel on the entryway floor. It was setting a bad example for Isaiah, but he'd been on tour for four months and lugging it to the laundry room before he got welcome home hugs was too much effort.
He followed the sound of a six-year-old protesting the number of vegetables on his plate to the kitchen. Bob noticed him first, and smiled warm and familiar across the room.
Isaiah was next, turning to see what Bob was looking at, and then he was scrambling out of his chair and across the room to Spencer.
"Daddy! You're home! Look, I'm a superhero!"
Spencer scooped him up, careful not to pull on his cape. "You are a superhero. That's a pretty awesome costume. Did Dad help you with it?"
"Yes, but it was all my idea."
"It was," Bob confirmed. He kissed Spencer over Isaiah's head while Isaiah squirmed until they stopped and Spencer put him down to go back to the table. Then Spencer got a much more satisfying kiss with both of Bob's arms around him. "You're not supposed to be home until tomorrow."
"Ditched Brendon to do all the press himself and caught an earlier flight. Didn't want to miss trick-or-treating."
Isaiah turned around at that. "Can we trick-or-treat at Uncle Brendon's?"
Spencer glanced at Bob before answering to make sure he wasn't being played to get something Bob had already said no to. "Sure. He won't be there, but I bet you'll get good candy from Aunt Sarah."
Isaiah nodded, apparently satisfied, and turned around again.
"Forget candy," Bob murmured. "She's likely to load him up on cupcakes and macaroons."
Spencer smirked at him. "Isaiah can't eat all of that. We'll have to confiscate some of it."
Bob shook his head, but he was smiling. "Devious. You want dinner?"
"God, yes."
Bob pushed him toward the stove. The gesture was familiar, and behind him Isaiah unsuccessfully tried to negotiate himself into more candy and no asparagus. Spencer grinned as he made sure to get plenty of asparagus for himself. Setting a good example.
When he sat down, Bob reached over and squeezed his arm. It was good to be home.

Date: 2011-11-01 02:05 am (UTC)I like to imagine Gabe was saying something to Nate and Victoria refused to be left out. And then the camera caught them all smiling at each other with love in their eyes. Because it doesn't matter what else is going on, the three of them? They're solid.

Date: 2011-11-01 02:20 am (UTC)I keep thinking there should be something that goes with the Alex and Victoria in this picture:
Maybe something like this:
Victoria hangs out with her guys, but she doesn't expect to go to prom with them. Someone's going to ask her - legs and boobs like hers, of course someone's going to ask her - but not her guys. Occasional comments aside, they don't really see her that way. To them, she's just one of them.
Alex catches up to her on the way to school and makes her jump when he touches her arm. She usually runs into at least one of them, but it's a little early in the walk for it.
"You scared the fuck out of me," she says as she pulls out her earbuds and tucks them into her bag with her iPod.
"Sorry." Alex links his arm through hers.
They probably make a pretty picture this morning, walking through the easy light of a spring morning, Victoria in relatively demure pink and yellow and Alex in a suit. (It's a thing. Victoria doesn't quite get it, but then most people don't get her penchant for skirts.)
"I wanted to ask you something before we got to school."
Victoria turns her head to look at him. He's more prone to seriousness than the rest of them. Not that he doesn't know how to have fun, but there's something about him that sees the world as a real place the way the rest of them try not to. Today's seriousness is soft enough not to worry her.
"Will you go to prom with me?"
Victoria stops, unhooks herself from his arm, and turns her whole body to look at him. "Really?"
"Really." He takes her hand and brings it up to brush a kiss over the back of it. If it were Ryland, it would be theatrical; Gabe and it would be mocking; Nate and it would probably include licking. When Alex does it, it's just sweet. "I want to go with you."
Victoria lets go and hooks her arm through his again. "Okay." She smiles sideways at him. "I get to tell Gabe."

Date: 2011-11-01 02:37 am (UTC)This is the AU where Bebe's a model. She likes the fluffy dresses, but the poses they put her in are so stupid. Then Pete comes along. He sees the potential in her for so much more, and he has some ideas about what fashion photography should be. He's going to change her life.

Date: 2011-11-01 02:58 am (UTC)There are three things that Silent Bob knows about Jay that most people wouldn't believe.
1. Their rent is always paid on time, and it's not because of Bob. All Bob does is listen - or half-listen; he's heard it enough that he doesn't need to pay that much attention again - to Jay talk about how dealers who don't have a stable base of operations are fucking idiots while Jay takes care of it.
Jay's monthly rant never mentions that he and his mom got evicted an average of three times a year when he was growing up. (The record was seven. That was a bad year.)
2. The reason they don't go out partying until late on Halloween has nothing to do with the fact that both business and partying are better later. Jay stocks up on giant bags of candy - some shoplifted, some paid for to cover up the lifted bags - and they make sure every kid who comes to their door goes home with enough candy to make every dentist in the tri-state area cry.
(When they were kids, Jay would sometimes trick-or-treat with him. They never went to Jay's, and they never got more than two or three handfuls of candy between them.)
3. There's only one person Jay will sleep in a bed with. He fucks anything that moves and says yes, and he'll even deign to go out on a date if there's someone he really wants to fuck, but at the end of the night, he's in bed by himself or next to Bob.
(Jay didn't have a teddy bear growing up. Bob knows it's not the only reason Jay sleeps with him, but sometimes he thinks Jay's making up for it with the way he holds on so tight.)
