no_tags Guessing Post

no_tags is done/almost done with posting and reveals are pretty soon after it's done, so this is your chance! If you can guess what I wrote, I will write you a snippet of your choice. (Rules and fine print: One guess per person. If multiple people get it right, I will write you each a snippet. The person who read along while I wrote is ineligible for guessing, but if no one gets it right, I will write her a snippet of her choice.)I will give you two not very helpful hints:
- I did a ridiculous amount of research for a tiny detail that you probably won't notice, but which caused me to adjust a couple of sentences to fit with reality.
- I rewrote the ending three times. The one on the actual story is the one I wrote less than an hour before I posted.
