Thankfulness: November 17

lakeeffectgirl posted the same meme I did yesterday, and seeing her name next to it made me realize that the premise of the meme, that "we talk about plot bunnies, but not about how we actually turn them into a story," isn't actually true for me. I don't have a question for lakeeffectgirl because we've talked through a lot of that kind of thing on her recent work - and mine. And it's not just her I've had those kinds of conversations with. We have a whole "bitch about what you're writing" email thread with a few other friends and I keep having those kinds of conversations with other people too, from emails with inlovewithnight to Twitter conversations with icanbreakthesky to writing talk on drives to Sacramento with my mother. Talking about writing and process and what works and what doesn't is something I love to do. So today I'm thankful to be part of a network of people with whom I get to indulge that part of myself.

This is unrelated to your post, but I didn't even realize you lived in California! If you're comfortable with saying it, where? (or whatever the closest major city to you is) I run into Californians a lot less than I expect to.

I'm in Chico. My grandparents used to live in Fresno, but they moved up to Sacramento a couple of years ago, so now we can make day trips more frequently, and that often ends up being just my mom and me.

Whereabouts (place or nearest city/county) do you live, if you don't mind my asking?

Ooh, we are not terribly far away from each other! I'm in Monterey County, but always have to go further north for any shows so we could very well run into each other someday!

Ooh, Monterey County. I used to go down to Monterey about once a year to go to the aquarium and walk on the beach, but I haven't been in a couple of years. I have so far not traveled for shows, but there are a couple of bands I would consider going to Sacramento for - and one or two I would go to San Francisco for - so it's definitely possible!
