Report on October:
Goals for November:
- 200 words per day during the week and 300 words per day on weekends of the novel, except Fridays, until it's done. Once it's done, take a week off of thinking about it, then start rereading/editing. Spend at least 15 minutes per day during the week and half an hour per day on weekends editing, except Fridays. - Well, I did finish it, and I did start rereading/editing, but there were a lot of days I didn't do this. Editing is much more tedious than writing the story.
- 200 words per day during the week and 300 words per day on weekends of my Leighton/Victoria story, except Fridays. - Didn't do any of this seven days and only did some of it another six. Part of the reason is that I've hit a place where I don't really like what has to happen next, so I don't want to write it.
- Rewrite the last scene of "Must Seem So Strange" (previously known as "the Mike/Kevin story") and decide if it's actually done/postable. The first scene of the story takes place on Halloween; I might as well try to finish it for this Halloween. - I decided it was really never finished fic, but did post it that way before Halloween.
- Work on at least one thing for my bingo card. - Check!
- Write miscellaneous snippets as inspired. - Check!
- Say positive things on Twitter. - Eh. It's an ongoing resolution.
Goals for November:
- Write 50,000 words of book 2. This works out to 1,667 words per day (rounded up to the nearest word), but I'll be chunking it into weekly goals. I know there's no way I'm going to write that many words of it per day on days I have yoga, and other weekdays may also be iffy. I will also be reminding myself of one of my secrets of adulthood: it's okay to fail. My decision making conclusion was that I would be happier trying and failing than not doing it at all.
- Write 100 words per day, every day, of the Leighton/Victoria story. If I stop working on this for a month, I'll never finish it, and I really want to finish it. Plus, 53,000 words in a month is not that much less ridiculous/more difficult a goal than 50,000 words in a month.
- Engage in productive procrastination. This means that if I'm not working one of the two things above during my writing time, I need to be writing or editing something else instead. (Note the "during my writing time" clause; there is no way I'm giving up all of my goofing off time.)
- Work on at least one thing for my bingo card.
- Write miscellaneous snippets as inspired. (I'm going to do this anyway, so it might as well be a real goal.)
- Post one thing I'm thankful for every day through Thanksgiving.
- Say positive things on Twitter.
