Prompt Time!

rsadelleThis month has so far been terrible in terms of getting my writing done. I think I need to feel excited about writing, and right now neither of my big projects are making me feel excited, so I think that makes it prompt time. I make no promises about when, exactly, I'll write your prompt (although I hope to do them today), but I will write you something.

Date: 2010-09-20 04:02 am (UTC)Mike has seen a lot of purples in his time. There's the hoodie Gabe's been wearing since his conversion to the cult of Cobra. There's the mark on Bill's shoulder from the last time they hooked up that Mike catches glimpses of every time Bill changes his shirt. And now there's Victoria's bra on the floor of a hotel room.
"The shitty part about Gabe's philosophy," Victoria says from behind him, "is the fucking hangovers."
Mike only grunts in response. It is the shitty part.
"Here." Victoria's hand nudges at his bare shoulder, and he turns enough to take the already lit cigarette from her. He'd probably be better off with a handful of aspirin, or maybe another fucking drink, but the cigarette helps.
Mike glances over at the clock while he's smoking. "Fuck, I need to go." He has enough practice with it that he can separate his clothes from hers and get dressed without losing his cigarette or burning anything.

"You were out late," Bill says archly when Mike figures out which room they're in and fishes his key out of a bundle of shit in his wallet.
Mike flips him off and works on shoving all his stuff into his duffel. Bill, the shit, already has his bag packed and is just lounging on Mike's unmade bed watching him.
"Hook up?"
Mike ignores him, and turns around to find Bill right there, crowded up against him.
"You and Vicky-T were pretty close last night."
Mike exhales smoke into his face. "Jealous?"
Bill makes a face at him. "That's going to kill you one day."
"I'm going to kill you one day." Mike pushes Bill back. Bill goes easily, laughs, and scoops up his duffel and guitar case.

The really shitty thing is that Mike didn't get a fucking shower, so he heads for the one at the venue as soon as they get there. All he wants is to get clean, but he doesn't mind when lips press against the back of his neck. He knows from the angle and the feel that it's Bill.
"Still hungover?"
"Not really." Mike turns in Bill's arms. "Still jealous?"
"I was never jealous." But instead of kissing him, Bill goes for his neck and sucks hard enough to leave a mark.

Victoria laughs when she sees him. "Didn't go over too well, did it?"
Mike smirks at her and steps close enough to grab her ass. "Went over pretty well. Too bad it's not a hotel night tonight."
Victoria puts her arms around his neck. "We don't need a hotel room."
"Guess not." Mike loves the way she's soft against him when he kisses her, the way her ass fits the curves of his hands.
"Mike."
Victoria's cheek presses against his as they both turn to look at Bill.
"Uh-oh," Victoria says under her breath.
Mike rolls his eyes. "What do you want, Bill?"
"Soundcheck."
"Not for twenty minutes."
"Fifteen," Bill says flatly.
Victoria steps back and pushes Mike back with a chuckle. "That went over pretty well too."

Mike's laugh turns into a moan when Bill presses a line of kisses up his neck and over his jaw.
By the time they get to soundcheck, Mike's hickey count has at least tripled.

Mike watches Cobra's set from side stage, with Bill at his back, one of Bill's long arms around his stomach.
Victoria laughs at them as she comes off the stage. She also walks right up to them and takes Mike's mouth in a deep kiss.
Bill's arm tightens and he pulls Mike hard against him.
Mike can't see the look on Bill's face, but Victoria's smirking when she steps back.
"You know," she says, and Mike's pretty sure she's not talking to him, "I'm very good at sharing."
Mike watches her ass as she walks away.

"Get that," Bill says when there's a knock on their door the next hotel night.
"Lazy bastard," Mike grumbles. He opens the door without looking to see who it is first, expecting it to be Adam or Michael.
"Drinks?" Victoria holds up a bottle of tequila and pushes past him.
Mike turns around just in time to catch the suspicious look on Bill's face. Victoria seems to ignore it and pours three glasses. She takes all three of them and sits down on the bed next to Bill.
"I told you," she says in answer to a question Bill hasn't actually asked, "I'm good at sharing." She holds out a glass toward Mike.
Mike kneels on the bed to take it from her, which also lets him look at both of them. Victoria's looking at him. Bill turns his suspicious glare on her, but then looks at Mike. Bill tosses his drink back and shifts forward enough to jerk Mike into a rough kiss by the front of his shirt.
There's the clink of a glass against the nightstand. Victoria takes Mike's glass away from him, and then steals him away from Bill for a kiss of her own.

Mike wakes up overheated and sore. When he sits up a little, to look at the clock, he finds it's still early and that three people's clothes make a lot of splashes of black on the floor.
It's early enough that Victoria kisses him slow and unhurried before she leaves.
Bill wakes up after she's gone, and tugs Mike closer for an equally slow kiss of his own.

Bill drags Mike up to watch the Cobras, holding him close, back against the wall where they can't be seen. He goes out to do "Snakes" and comes back with his eyes shining and his forehead damp with sweat.
Mike grins back at him and kisses him slow and dirty before pulling him around to watch the rest of the set.
The Cobras come off stage laughing, as usual. Victoria smirks at them, but then Gabe catches her around the waist, kisses her neck, and her smile turns a little more natural and she turns away to go with her band.
Mike laughs and shakes his head, and goes with Bill to sign things for the kids.

"Not any more." Mike pulled out his lighter and lit her cigarette. "What are you drinking?"
Victoria looked down into her cup. "No idea. Something of Gabe's."
Mike took the cup from her and took a sip. It was strong as hell. "That'll fuck you up."
Victoria took a drink that had to be half the cup. "Good. He should be useful for something." She tipped her head back against the wall behind them, exhaling smoke up towards the sky. "You want to trade?"
Mike may have been hiding from Bill, but that didn't mean he wanted Gabe instead. "Nope."
"You sure? If he gropes me one more time, I might knee him in the balls. You're luck you don't have to deal with that."
"No," Mike said, "Bill only gropes Gabe and Travie."
Everything was silent for a moment, and then Victoria burst into laughter. "You want Bill to grope you!" She subsided into giggles. "Mike has a crush," she singsonged.
"Shut up." Mike elbowed her in the side.
Victoria didn't stop laughing. "You like Bill." She dragged out every vowel sound.
"Are you in junior high? Shut up." Mike shoved her, hard enough that she almost went all the way over. Victoria shoved back, hard enough that he did tip all the way over. "Fuck, you spilled my beer."
Victoria's hand dug into his stomach as she tried to push herself off of him. "We can share Gabe's concoction."
The door slammed open again while they were still trying to disentangle themselves.
"Well, look at this," Gabe crowed. He and Bill, arms around each other's waists, were really tall when Mike was on the ground. "Our little lost lambs."
Bill blinked down at them. "Mike, you're on the ground."
"Yes, I am." Mike stubbed out his cigarette with one hand and used the other to keep Victoria from injuring him any more. He managed to get Victoria off of him - still without flashing him. How did she do that? - and reached around her to steal the rest of her drink.
"You should get up," Bill said.
"Or we should go down there," Gabe said.
"You've already ruined it." Victoria pushed herself up, and Gabe helped to pull her to her feet. Without his support, Bill started to list to one side, and Mike scrambled up to keep him from falling.
"Mike." Bill draped his arm around Mike's shoulder. "Mike, you went missing."
"How drunk are you?" Mike was pretty drunk himself, but he hadn't buckled under Bill's weight yet.
"Gabe was mixing drinks."
"Yeah, I had half of one of those." Mike glanced over at Victoria, who was batting Gabe's hands away from her, which was just enough time for Bill to throw his other arm around him and nearly tip them both over onto the ground.
"The answer," Bill said, "is very, very drunk."
"Yeah." Whatever the fuck Gabe gave Vicky-T was making Mike start to sway. "You want some more or you want to go to bed?"
"More," Gabe said. "The answer is always more." He had his arm around Victoria, who was scowling and digging her elbow into him.
Bill's chin dug into Mike's shoulder. "Think I need to go to bed."
Mike sighed. He could have gone for another cup of whatever Gabe was making.
Gabe tsked. "Can't keep up with me anymore. I'll just have to party with Victoria here. She knows how to party."
"She doesn't want to party with you." Victoria shoved him away, but caught him again when that made him wobble. "Are you sure you don't want to trade?"
Mike shrugged, but not enough to dislodge Bill. "You're stuck with him."
"Some friend you are." Victoria yanked at Gabe. "Let's go. You owe me a shitload of alcohol." She yanked the door open, and Mike maneuvered Bill through it before it could shut on them.
"Mike, there are stairs." It was the kind of tone Bill might use to announce the death of an amp, or a stain on his favorite jeans.
"Yeah, I know. Try not to fall down and kill us both."
Bill's hand smacked lightly against his face. "I wouldn't want to kill you."
Mike resettled Bill's hand on his shoulder instead. "That's good to know, Bill. Good to know."
Drumsticks and a Black Hoodie (1/2)
Date: 2010-10-05 03:39 am (UTC)Mike checks out the girl out of habit. She's wearing jeans and a black hoodie it's really too hot for in the club, and she has a piercing through her lip that makes him wonder where else she might be pierced.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" Patrick's voice floats over the emptying room. "Come on." He drags the girl up onto the stage. She pulls a pair of drumsticks out of her back pocket and hands them over. Patrick taps something out, and then she takes the sticks back and does it better.
Mike watches them go back and forth for a while. The girl pushes up her sleeves, and then pulls her hoodie off over her head. It leaves her short blonde hair sticking up. Mike expects her to smooth it down, but she just knots the arms of the hoodie around her waist and takes the drumsticks back from Patrick.
Mike appreciates her dedication, and her breasts, which he can tell are nice even under her t-shirt.
"Hey," Adam practically crashes into him, "we're going to IHOP. You in?"
Mike abandons his Coke on the bar. "I'm in."

He forgets about the girl until the next time they play a show.
"I'm Bobby," she says when they show up for soundcheck. "I'm here to make you sound good."
"Not sure we need your help," Bill says.
Bobby crosses her arms over her chest, looking unimpressed by Bill, which is definitely a point in her favor. "I'm running sound."
Mike crouches down on the stage so he's at her level. "Bill's a diva. You're going to have to balance us carefully. Don't overwhelm him, but don't let him talk you into dimming the rest of us."
Bobby nods. "I've heard your EP. I can get this. You know what you're doing with cords and monitors?"
"We're good." Mike smiles at her."You like the EP?"
Her eyes flick to the rest of his band. "Yeah, sure." She jerks her thumb toward the back of the room. "I'm gonna."
Mike nods and watches her go. Girls who want something from them always say they liked the EP.
Drumsticks and a Black Hoodie (2/2)

She's at the sound board, flipping switches and shutting stuff down. "You're welcome. Your diva happy?"
Mike follows the direction of her nod to where Bill is surrounded by kids, leaning down to talk to each and every one of them. "Yeah, he's good." Mike turns back to her. She's probably about as tall as he is, and even taller in the sound booth. It's not that big a deal; he's used to looking up at Bill anyway. "We're probably gonna go get pancakes or something after this. You want to come?"
Bobby looks out over the venue, then shrugs, and says, "Yeah, sure."
There are a few kids who do want to meet him, and then it takes forever for Bill to extricate himself from the kids around him, but they finally get out of there and pile all of them into the van and tell Bobby, who has her own car, where they're going so she can meet them there.
Bobby orders a short stack and a cup of coffee, which she drinks black. Mike can respect that.
She also knows her shit when it comes to music in general and drums in particular.
Mike's band are not total assholes, so they move away on the sidewalk so Mike can talk to Bobby for a minute until she says, "You suck at this. Give me your phone," and puts her own number into his address book. Her phone buzzes when she calls herself. "I'm calling you if you don't call me in two days."
Mike's totally aware of how uncool he is when he just grins at her and says, "Cool."
"See you around." She tosses his phone back at him.
Mike watches her walk away before he turns around to face his band's snickering.
"Shut up. She's friends with Patrick, she has to be cool."
Bill throws an arm over his shoulders. "Patrick's best friend is Pete."
Mike elbows Bill in the side. "You love Pete."
"Yeah, but I wouldn't date him."
"Me either. He takes even longer to get ready than Christine. Or you."
"You can't choose the people you date based on how long it takes them to get ready."
"I can choose them because they're cool. That's just a bonus." Mike shoves Bill off of him and climbs into the van. "And Bobby's cool."

"You sound like shit."
"I know. Come sit with me. Your breasts will heal me. Even covered up as they are."
"You're such a pig." Victoria threw a blanket at him.
Gabe pulled the blanket around him, all the way up to his chin. He also stopped talking. Victoria found her iPod stuffed between the cushions of the couch Gabe wasn't sitting on. When she turned around, Gabe was looking uncharacteristically down.
Victoria sighed. "You want to share?" She held up one of the earbuds.
Gabe nodded without speaking.
Victoria folded her legs underneath her - probably flashing Gabe her underwear, but it wasn't like he hadn't seen it before - and handed him an earbud.
"Nothing of ours," Gabe said when she dialed through to create a playlist.
Victoria didn't put anything of theirs - or Midtown's - on her playlist. "Come on." She tugged Gabe's head down onto her shoulder.
He pulled one arm out from under the blanket and tucked it around her stomach. "Thanks."
Victoria patted his arm. "Keep that hand off my ass."
