Various Top Fives

There are no pictures in these answers. Whoops. I'm really more of a word person anyway.

inlovewithnight asked for my top five Gabe pairings.

1. Gabe/Spencer - I know, this is not what you think of when you think of Gabe pairings, but I love it! This is entirely because of "Unsuspecting Strangers" by airgiodslv.


2. Gabe/William - This was not the first bandom pairing I read, but it was the first one where I read everything there was to read. Ridiculous tall people in love; what more could you want?


3. Gabe/Victoria - A large part of the reason I love this pairing is that I like women and this pairing has one. But more than that I like the vibe of them together. I want to say this should always be fun, but then I keep writing them dramatic and emotionally difficult stories, so maybe that's not really what I think.


4. Gabe/His Band - There should always be more Cobra gsf, and while it should be about all of them loving each other, it should also be about Gabe loving/sexing up his band.


5. Gabe/Suarez - There should be more of this too, with a lot of cooking and dirty talk in two languages. (Maybe three if Gabe knows how to dirty talk in Hebrew, which he throws in sometimes just for the variety.)

I had a hard time with that fifth one. Gabe/Mike, Gabe/Pete, and Gabe/Mikey were all strong contenders.

colouredmango asked for my top five songs. I did this in two parts.

List A is five songs I thought of off the top of my head that I love right now.

1. New Edition, Cobra Starship - I have a thing about couples who are evenly matched, so Gabe and Victoria (see above re: Gabe pairings) singing to each other is one of my favorite things in the world. I also find the "baby boy"/"baby girl" endearments kind of endearing rather than the annoying they would be in anyone else.


2. Time After Time - I don't think I've ever heard a version of this song I didn't like. My current owning count (original and covers) is 5 (that includes two different TAI live versions but not Rob Thomas's; I should fix that). I've had Quietdrive's version on several recent playlists of the day.


3. Spit the Dark, Empires - Of course this was going to have an Empires song. I've listened to a lot of things off of Bang in recent times, but this remains my all-time favorite Empires song.


4. You're It, Halloween, Alaska - I love this song. It's quiet and soft and romantic.


5. Ice Cream, Sarah McLachlan - The version I have is off of The Freedom Sessions. Her liner notes say that this version is more how they do it live, and it's a lot of fun.

I don't know about this. A real list like this would take a lot longer to come up with and I am ready to finish with this post, so this is a thrown together one, mostly things I've read relatively recently and heavy on the porn.

1. Break Loose Ranch (J2) by smokeringhalos - This is kind of a cheat because it's a series, not just one story. The voice of the fic is amazing, it's a cowboy AU, and it has a lovely d/s vibe. I talked about it more here.


2. Always, and again by airgiodslv - My favorite femslash kink. I recced this here.


3. Pull Your Tangles Out by boweryd - More kink! I talked about this one here.


4. "Waiter, there's been a mistake; I ordered a quiche." by megyal - Kink again. Also talked about here.


5. Five Year Plan (WIP) by reni_days - For a change of pace, have some schmoop. I love this story, even if it is permanently unfinished. Love it!

She also asked for the top five pairings that make no sense to me.

I had to dig deep for these. If a pairing doesn't make sense to me, it's not really on my radar.

1. Firefly/Serenity, Mal/Simon - I'm sure there are reasons for this and some perfectly wonderful fic, but I just don't see it.


2. Star Trek: Voyager, B'Elanna/Tom - I actually didn't watch far enough into the show to see this, so I suppose it could have been done well, but they totally set up B'Elanna/Chakotay in the first season ep with the dreams, and that was my Voyager OTP, and you can't convince me otherwise.


3. Harry Potter, Remus/Tonks - Seriously, JKR, Tonks was a lesbian and Remus was life partnered to Sirius until you retconned them into being straight.

I think I'm going to have to declare defeat at three. I just can't come up with two more!

wordscomekinda asked for my top five Sisky pairings.

1. Butcher/Sisky - This is entirely due to colouredmango. Go read all of her Butcher/Sisky and you'll come back convinced. I talked about one of them here.


2. William/Sisky - BFFs! They could be in love!


3. Mike/Sisky - There isn't much of this (that I know of), but there should be. Mike is Sisky's other BFF! Also, you could profitably write some interesting kink about them. (Hint, hint.)


4. Mike/William/Sisky - It's my list, so I'm letting this be its own thing. The three of them are the permanent forever members of their band. They should get a chance to be in love.


5. Sisky/himself - I actually don't have a fifth one, but I kind of love Sisky's cheerfulness about life. And his cats.

She also asked for my top five TAI pairings in general (or at least I think that's what she meant).

1. Mike/William - I am utterly fascinated by Bill saying in his AP Podcast interview that he and Mike are close now, which they've never had before. Somehow, that kickstarted my brain into a Mike/William place.


2. Mike/Michael - Mike fell in mad guitar love with Michael the first time they met. If that's not meant to be, I don't know what is.


3. Mike/Michael/Naomi - As far as I can tell, Mike was the only member of TAI to go to Michael and Naomi's wedding, so of course I want threesome fic about them.


4. Mike/William/Christine - Clearly I have a thing for Mike/established couple threesomes. Someone (meaning: not me) should write this.


5. Butcher/Sisky - See above.
