Plot Bunnies and Snippets
Apr. 18th, 2010 03:47 pmThis is a collection of miscellaneous plot bunnies and snippets. The snippets are mostly the beginnings of things I know I'm not going to write more of.
*
Warning: This first one could be triggery. Suicide talk ahead. Skip to the next LJ-cut if you don't want to read it.

Brendon likes to call Zack Miss Clavel. It's a lot less funny when he uses the other key to let himself into Spencer's room and finds him leaning over the sink, blood from one wrist sliding down to where he's trying to hold the razor against the other.

The envelope has Nick's name and address printed on two identical sticky labels, one in the to area, and one as the return address. Inside there's a photo, printed on real photo paper. It's just a pair of feet, in striped socks and red Chucks, against the grass.
Nick knows those feet, though, the angle of them.
He turns the envelope over and reads the postmark: Clarksville, Tennessee.
He throws a few things in a bag while he buys a ticket to Nashville and arranges for a rental car.
In the middle, he has to keep following clues that lead him from place to place.
Eventually:
"I wanted to see if you would come get me," Tyson says.
"I'll always come get you."
*
Brendon always has to give up his dogs. Shane got Dylan, Spencer got Bogart, and Sarah got whatever the new dog's name is.
*
In the story in my head but I'll probably never write, Cassadee Pope, rock star, falls in love with a guy who owns a coffee shop.
*
I want fic where Mike and Emma and Michael and Naomi all live in the same house. They could all be in a relationship, but mostly I just want them all being domestic.
Emma and Naomi drink tea, so Mike has to make his own coffee and wait for it to brew, even when they're up before him.
Naomi's at the stove, and Emma's on the outside of the kitchen, her tea on the counter, talking to Naomi as she cooks. Mike stands behind Emma, hands on her hips and face in her hair and listens to them talk while he waits for his coffee.
He hears Michael's footsteps and doesn't even need to look up to see the way Naomi tilts her head so Michael can kiss her neck.
*
Other story I want: Mike walks in on Emma and Jared and walks back out again before they can see him. He goes to Michael and Naomi's. Michael opens the door.
"Can I come in?"
"Always." Michael brings him a beer and they sit in silence.
"Emma's fucking Jared," Mike finally says.
"You sure?"
"Yeah." Mike sips at his beer. "Yeah, I'm sure."
Eventually that would be Mike/Michael/Naomi.
*
Publicly, they can't do anything about it. Privately, it's a different story. Out of the house and in front of cameras, Nick still has his brothers, his family. At home, they barely talk to him, and when they do, it's to pray for him or tell him that if he doesn't change, he's going to hell.
The hardest part is that he's losing his faith. He's not sure what his life is without his family or his God.
He has to get away sometimes, and Vegas is lax enough that no one cards him when he goes into the bar. Or maybe they recognize him and let him in because he's a celebrity.
The whole place isn't that crowded, but there are only two bar stools open. Nick chooses the one next to a guy who isn't much older than he is instead of the one between two guys old enough to be his dad.
The guy who isn't that much older turns to look at him. "What are you in for?"
"Gay in a religious family."
The guy sort of laughs. "Me too. Let me buy you a drink."
"Just Diet Coke," Nick says. "It's not like they threw me out."
"Mine did." The guy waves a hand. "Years ago. Things are sort of okay now." He gets the bartender's attention and orders another beer and Nick's Diet Coke.
*
Brendon may tend toward flightiness and do better when he lives with someone who can say, "They're under the bed, just like every other time," when he can't find his shoes, but he's not stupid. He knows that when Nick looks at him, he's not seeing Brendon so much as he is dark hair, a wide smile, thick frames. They never talk about it, but Brendon knows that when Joe gets new glasses, he will too.
But that's not the only secret they're keeping. Nick will slant him long, thoughtful glances when he smiles helplessly down at Spencer's name on his phone and take it into the other room. When he comes back and climbs into Nick's lap, Nick asks, "What do you want?" and fucks or cuddles him depending on the answer.
*
Brendon gets his hair cut, and he's taking a wandering drive home when he sees a music store he's never been in. He pulls into their parking lot to check it out.
He has the salesman pull a guitar down for him, and he's just playing a bit when some other guy in there says, "The Gibson has better sound."
They get to talking guitars and music, and Brendon doesn't think their conversation should have to end just because his stomach growls. "You want to grab dinner?"
Nick - they introduced themselves somewhere along the way - looks startled, and says, "Yeah, let me just make a phone call."
Brendon's pretty sure Nick's phone says "Mom," and Nick is definitely telling someone he won't be home for dinner.

Spencer was a teenager when he first met Patrick.
Someone had to be the responsible one in his band, and he figured it might as well be him. He didn't realize at the time that it mean he would be doing that for the rest of the life of his band.
He was also busy and didn't notice Patrick much, except as Patrick Stump, lead singer of Fall Out Boy. He forgets Patrick isn't that much older than him.
Then he and Haley were supposed to be forever, and they were both a little shell-shocked when it turned out they weren't.
And then his band falls apart.
Pete keeps inviting them over, like he's trying to take care of them, which is fucking hilarious because Pete's band is ending too. At least they're still friends.
Spencer's talked to Ryan once, a stilted conversation where he said, "Mom says hi," and Ryan said, "Oh, yeah, I talked to her last week," and proceeded to tell Spencer a story he didn't know about his own sisters.
Still, he sometimes catches a look on Pete's face he's sure he's not supposed to see that makes him think Ashlee and Bronx are the only things holding Pete together. He gets that. Sometimes it feels like Brendon and Bogart are what's holding him together. But that won't last. Brendon let Shane go when it was time for him to move out, and Spencer's going to let Brendon go when it's time.
He manages to tell Brendon that, and it's not much longer before Brendon asks Sarah to move in with him.
Technically, everyone moves out, and Brendon and Sarah move into a new place together and Spencer finds a new place alone.
It's not like he never sees Brendon - they text all the time and spend most days together - but it's different. He hangs out with Shane sometimes, but even though he knows it's stupid, he still sort of thinks of Shane as Brendon's friend.
He's in the grocery store looking at the sugar cereal he doesn't eat anymore when Patrick's voice says, "Hey, Spencer."
Patrick's changed shape enough even in the short time since Spencer last saw him that his approach didn't even register.
They make small talk, and Spencer says, "Pete says you're doing a solo thing," and Patrick lights up.
"Yeah, it's awesome. I missed playing the drums."
Spencer laughs, because he knows how that goes.
"You know, I have a second kit," Patrick says. "You should come over and jam sometime."
"Yeah," Spencer says, "that'd be fun."
And then blahblahblah playing music, sex, love, whatever. (This would maybe also be about my issues about Spencer and Patrick's weight loss.)
