Story

Part of the reason I can't write the Jason dying idea as a story is that the next bit isn't meant to be written in story form because it's really more of a cinematic montage in my head.

--begin montage--

Music: S&M version of "Nothing Else Matters"

Jason getting out of his car at the airport, hefting his bags out of the trunk.

Lars, shot glass in one hand, cigarette in the other, pacing his living room while Skylar rocks Myles back and forth and watches him.

Jason checking in at the airport, walking to his gate.

Kirk walking into his house and going straight to Lani, crying in her arms.

Jason getting on the plane, staring out the window as it takes off.

James sitting on the couch, the children put to bed early, Francesca pressed to his side, in a darkening room.

Jason getting off the plane and walking straight into his mother's arms. "Hi, mom."

Jason's mom holding him tight, kissing his cheek, murmuring, "Hi, sweetie."

Jason letting go of her and hugging his dad. "Hi, dad."

Jason's dad hugging him back. "Hi, son."

Jason and his parents gathering his baggage, getting into their car.

--end montage--

I had the beginning of the song in my head this morning, and I knew it was from S&M, and I thought it was going to provide me with a nice opportunity to go through the songs and figure out which one I was hearing, but then I realized it was "Nothing Else Matters." I put on S&M anyway. It's a good thing I don't have a roommate anymore.
