In the interests of keeping myself entertained while not writing 750 words about the Iranian Revolution, I've been reading Phantom Menace slash. TPM is like The Sentinel for me: I don't like the original source, but there's an awful lot of wonderful fan fic out there. I spent yesterday rereading Siubhan's wonderful Maul/Obi-Wan stories, and a few of my favorite non-canon Sith Academy stories, and something in them sparked the memory of a series whose author and title I can't remember. In it, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan meet and form a (non-sexual) bond when Obi-Wan's just a child. I remember Qui-Gon comforting a very young--four, five years old?--Obi-Wan when he has nightmares, and a still very young Obi-Wan comforting a distraught Qui-Gon when something bad happens. I don't remember what it is that happens, though. I know the story used to be at Master and Apprentice, but I don't have the patience to sift through it to find that series. The author also had a webpage with the series on it, but I don't remember where that was either. If you know what I'm talking about, please do tell me what it was and where I can find it. The other story I want to find is one that used to be in either the Fetish/Kink or BDSM category at Master and Apprentice, but isn't anymore. In it, Obi-Wan is sent after an evil force user--either a Sith or a renegade Jedi--who is, of course, Qui-Gon. The evil Qui-Gon takes him prisoner and makes him his sex slave, not that Obi-Wan is protesting too strongly. In the end, it turns out to be a dream of Obi-Wan's. If you know what I'm talking about, please tell me where it is.

And of course as I was writing this, I managed to find that the series is the Inner Strength Series by Kaly. But I'm still looking for the kinky Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan smut.

Would you have any recs for good TPM stuff? The archive is so huge, I have no idea where to begin.

Well, honestly, I haven't really read all that much. At one point I think I read other things, but what I've really read is most of the stuff in the Fetish/Kink and BDSM categories. So a list of the ones I quite enjoy: "A Less Than Perfect Padawan" by Ruth Gifford, "A Good Relationship Is All About Love, Trust, and a Sturdy Sling" by James Walkswithwind; "The Apprentice Master" by Lilith Sedai, Lorelei, Cori Lannam, and Kate Evans; and "I Have a Bad Feeling About This" by Ruth Gifford and atara.

In terms of other things, Kaly's series is pretty entertaining, if a bit on the sappy side, Siubhan's M/O is wonderful, and anything Sith Academy is guaranteed to be fun.

While I do enjoy Kaly's series, I may also have been confusing it with Diana Williams' Children of the Temple series, which is excellent.

Hmm. Except maybe this wasn't what I was thinking of either. Is there a story (series, perhaps?) that begins with Qui-Gon being there for Obi-Wan's birth and they bond then and there? Or is that just a figment of my imagination?

There is such a story. It's "Bonding Through the Years" by Anne Higgins. Available at Master and Apprentice.
