I'm now a part of the modern LJ world.
Dec. 7th, 2008 06:09 pmI've gone back and tagged nearly all of my entries. A few things that were whiny personal things that didn't need to be found again did not get tagged. I've ended up with 195 tags. This seems like a lot to me.
Now I have to decide if I'm going to go unmemorify everything I had in my memories. I'm a completist, so I dislike having some things memorified and other things not. Plus, from an outsider perspective, I don't want people looking for my fic to think I stopped writing in 2008 because there isn't anything in the memories past that.
Before I tagged things, I changed to LJ's S2 style system so that tags on an entry could be seen. I'm not particularly happy with S2. The S2 version of the style I was using before has some issues that were serious enough to irritate me. There was another one I really liked for my journal, but I hated the way it formatted the userinfo/userpic on my friends page, and since I'm looking at my friends page way more often than I'm ever looking at my own LJ, that wasn't going to work for me. I'm not entirely sure I like what I'm using now - there's something weird about the spacing, but I don't like most of the other ones either.
I kind of feel like since I'm diving into using LJ the way everyone else is, I should have userpics. I don't know if I would like that or if it would just cause me unnecessary stress.

Date: 2008-12-08 05:48 am (UTC)I'm ok at making basic icons if you don't want anything too fancy or artistic.
You can privatize your memories, can't you? Which would save you from having to un-memorify everything.
Hmm. Have you played around with the various features for S2? I've been using Expressive for so long I don't know about the other styles, but I know in Expressive there's a tab that lets you play with the page layout: choosing 2 or 3 columns, for example, or putting icons on the right or left.

Date: 2008-12-08 05:56 am (UTC)I think I'd have to privatize them on an individual basis, which would be just as much hassle as unmemorifying them.
I have played around with all possible options I could find that would make any difference (The style I'm using now was originally all blues, and I made it gray.), and I did that for three or four completely different styles. I really liked Auto (based on Tranquility II), but the way it does the friends page sucks. It's too hard to see at a glance who posted an entry.
