Thankfulness: November 14, 2008

Today I'm thankful for Target. They always have what you need, even when what you need is a small, inexpensive cactus. I am also thankful that I did not poke myself with the cactus after putting it in the cup holder, which, I belatedly realized, is alarmingly close to the gear shift.

Hilarious Target story: A couple of weeks ago at Sunday dinner night, my dad said he'd never been in Target before, but he'd gone that day. He sounded completely amazed when he said pretty much everyone in there were young women, which my cousins (also young women) and I found very funny.

You paid for a cactus? Those things are just growing on people's lawns! ;)

I bought it as a housewarming gift for Paul.

He really wasn't kidding when he liked succulents. He has a lot of plants in his backyard, and there are a few larger pots, and then two sets of shelves that each have the top shelf or two full of plants in smaller pots, most of which are succulents. The whole corner of the bar in the kitchen is full of cacti and other succulents, which is where he put the one I brought him and the ones Stevie brought. The ones Stevie brought were a gift from her mother, who met Paul at Stevie's birthday party and remembered him saying he liked succulents.

This may never cease to be funny.
