We went to see Babylon A.D. today. One of the trailers was for Fast & Furious, which was awesome. I don't know if I can wait for next summer! The one thing I would change about the trailer would be to show the "New Model Original Parts" tagline first, and the actor names second.

I loved Babylon A.D. It's kind of like Children of Men plus Fifth Element plus Vin Diesel. It rocked. It has a dystopian world I kept thinking of as beautiful (for the artistry, not for the beauty of the actual world). It has an unconsummated true love story. It has religion. It has women kicking ass, one of them as she sort of floats through the world of the bad guys. And, of course, it has Vin Diesel. I, of course, absolutely loved it. Brad thought there were writing problems, and there were three things I noticed that didn't work. First, when Toorop first meets Aurora, he tells her, "I'm not your friend, your brother, or your boyfriend." Instead of "boyfriend," it should have been "lover." Secondly, the evil mastermind high priestess says "down the tubes," which just isn't right for her character. Thirdly, there isn't enough of an explanation about Aurora's pregnancy. I mean, sure, it's a miracle and all, but even Mary got the Angel Gabriel.

Wow. Loved it? I was semi-interested until I saw it's one of the worst-rated movies I can remember seeing in recent years (cf. Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/babylon_ad/)). I mean, it's no Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ballistic_ecks_vs_sever/), but 7%? I won't even pay cheap-theater prices for that.
