One question vacation poll.
Jul. 7th, 2005 09:18 pmI should have enough vacation time saved up by mid to late August to take a week off and do something. My original thought was that maybe I'd go to Massachussets--I've never been to Boston and I could visit those of you in the state. Then, however, my mother sent me an email. Her cousin's daughter's bat mitzvah is in Boston over Memorial Day Weekend 2006. So now I don't know what to do for a vacation. I've come up with a couple of options:
Massachussets Many people have suggested that I just go twice. The good: time to spend with friends uninterrupted by family time. The bad: I'm not so much up for multiple cross-country flights anymore.
The Beach I went to the Monterey Bay area last year, and I do love the beach there. A week is a little long, so I'd probably only go for four days or so and spend the rest of the time relaxing at home.
Nowhere I could just take the time off and relax at home. There's a pool here, and I could do whatever it is I may have been putting off because it needs to be done during work hours.
PAX/Vancouver Brad's talking about going to PAX, and I liked Vancouver when I was there before. I could drive myself up to Vancouver, vacation, drive back down to PAX, and SuperTrip it back. I have to be in Sacramento and in a condition to work at 8 am August 30, so I couldn't do the SuperTrip there. Pros: I liked Vancouver, I liked the locks in Seattle, PAX could be fun. Cons: I can't stand more than about three and half hours in a car (I could fly/other non-car transport), I didn't like anything else in Seattle, I'm not a gamer. Depending on what Brad decides, I may go to PAX no matter what else I do.
Greece I really want to go back to Greece, especially since I bought a Greek Islands calendar to put on the wall over my computer at work. Pros: Antiparos is the most beautiful place I've ever been, and I'd like to see some of the other islands too. Cons: It seems like a lot of work, and a lot of money. I hate jet lag. I'd really love to go with friends (this means you) instead of alone.
San Diego I haven't been to San Diego since I was four, and even then, we only went to the zoo. Pros: The weather's supposed to be great, and I'm sure Erin and Dave would be happy to have me visit. Cons: I'm not a big fan of Southern California, and although I love Erin dearly, I don't know that I could stay with her for very long.
Somewhere Else There may be somewhere else fabulous to go that I may not have thought of.
And so I give you
