This is a scene I wanted to write for Now I've got you in my space (Alex and Brandon date, and sometimes babysit Alex's nephew. 18,000 words, Explicit). It takes place after everything else in the story, but the last scene of the story felt like the ending, and this didn't fit.
Brandon opens his door to the knock he recognizes, and smiles at Alex. "Hi." He holds the door wider so Alex can see P.K. and Carey behind him.
"Hi," Alex says.
"You want to grab Gally and hang out with us?"
Alex nods.
Brandon waits in the doorway while Alex goes down the hall and gets Gally from their room. Gally comes in first, and then Alex, who waits while Brandon shuts the door. Alex looks past Brandon at everyone else, and then leans in and kisses him.
Brandon squeezes Alex's upper arms. "Hi."
"Hi," Alex says with a small, private smile.
Brandon smiles back at him and pushes him into the room. Carey blinks at them, like he didn't actually know about them, but P.K. and Gally don't react to it.
Alex and Gally settle right in with the other two, the five of them talking and chirping and half watching [something sports related].
"Oh, man," P.K. says when his phone buzzes. "Look at this." He holds it out to Carey and Gally, who are closest to him, and then, when he doesn't get a reaction from them, hands it across the space between the beds to Brandon. "Look at how cute they are." The picture is of P.K.'s nephews in matching pajamas with matching grins on their faces.
"They're very cute," Alex says. He's leaning against Brandon's back, half draped over him to look over his shoulder. "But not as cute as ours."
P.K. reaches over to take his phone back. "Come on. How are they not cuter than yours?"
"Well, for starters," Brandon says with a smirk, "ours looks like Alex and not like you."
P.K. lets out a surprised bark of laughter. "Brandon, are you saying I'm not an attractive man?"
"Oh, not at all," Brandon says. "You're very attractive. But you're not as attractive as Alex."
P.K. laughs again. "You're biased."
Brandon twists his head to look at Alex smiling at him. "Maybe."
