I was thinking about how I couldn't quite picture a househusband AGally/Prust story. Brandon doesn't seem like he'd be happy to mostly be around the house all the time. So in a story where they're together and Brandon retires, he obviously needs to find things to keep himself busy. He does some charity work, and he also decides he wants to coach hockey, not as a super serious career type thing, but because he thinks it'll be fun and rewarding. So he finds some not very good, low level team of teenagers (either a school that pays a very small stipend for coaching or a volunteer gig - handwaving the details of hockey coaching).

The first time he meets the kids, they give him some skeptical looks and point out that they're not a very good team. "You played in the NHL. Don't you want to coach a team that wins games?"

Brandon says, "I want to coach a team that wants to have some fun and get better."

The kids know he has a partner. One of them said something to him about setting him up, and he laughed and said, "I'm taken." Plus they've overheard his end of the conversation when he's talking to Alex before practice: "Yeah, just text me what you want. ... No. If I make the kids leave their phones in their lockers, I have to leave mine too. ... Love you too."

(When Brandon brings home dinner, which is what Alex was texting him about, Alex says something about how boring they are, having dinner and then going to bed early so Alex gets plenty of rest before tomorrow's game. So after the game they go to a club and then come home and have sweaty, athletic sex to reassure themselves they're not always boring.)

After Brandon's been coaching for a bit, Alex comes to a practice. The kids are all excited that Alex Galchenyuk from the Habs is there to help them with drills and whatever. Alex comes to a couple of games, and that's about when the kids start figuring out that Alex is Brandon's partner. (They're not exactly out, but they're not doing everything in their power to stay closeted either.) The kids' attitude about it is mostly, "Way to go, Coach B!"

After that, one of the kids comes out to Brandon and another couple of them ask him for relationship advice.

At some point, Brandon gets offered some other coaching job (more prestigious with more money), because now he's a former NHL player with coaching experience, and turns it down because he likes this job and he likes working with the kids and he doesn't need the prestige or the money. He does it very quietly, but it gets leaked (at least to Twitter), and then the kids love Brandon EVEN MORE because he chose to keep coaching them.

(Obviously this story would fulfill all my needs for mentoring and functional adult relationships.)

Not really a househusband story because Brandon is definitely not in charge of household things. Like, they have a cleaning service, and they split responsibility for meals (Brandon picked up dinner because he was already out and about, but sometimes Alex does it or they cook together or they go out).
