Way back before Danny signed with the Habs, I kept coming up with ideas for stories depending on where he went, mostly about Pittsburgh and LA (because they were two of the three funniest possibilities [the third is Columbus]).
The LA ideas were pretty much all Danny/Carts/Richie variations; this is a snippet of a variation where there would be threesome Danny/Carts/Richie times but also Danny/Claude feelings. If anyone needs a fic writing project, I really want a 50,000-word version of this where Carts and Richie keep Danny for two years and then send him back to Claude with the ability to cook and give a really great blowjob.
Danny and Claude have a good-bye dinner a couple of days before Danny leaves. (The last day is reserved for the boys.) They hug for a long time when Claude drops Danny off at home, and Claude shoves something into Danny's hands.
"Don't open it until you're there," Claude says.
Danny's tempted, but he puts it into one of his bags without looking, and doesn't open it until he's in Carts and Richie's guest room. His room now.
It's a shirt, heather gray with the Flyers name across the front. At first Danny can't figure out why Claude gave him a Flyers shirt - he has plenty of his own - until he realizes it also has the number 28 on it instead his familiar 48. When he brings it to his face, it still smells like Claude.
He wears it around the house sometimes, and Carts and Richie don't mention it any more than he mentions the fact that they only use one bedroom.

Later, the Flyers come to LA for a game. Having dinner with Claude requires more arranging than Danny thought possible. He gives in to Carts and Richie's insistence that he invite Claude over to have dinner at the house and leaves Claude to figure out his side of things. In the end, they compromise: Danny goes to pick Claude up early so he can have a little time to catch up with everyone else, and only Claude and Hartsy come over for dinner.
"You're cooking?" Hartsy asks Carts.
"He's better at it than I am," Richie says. "Danny's in charge of wine, since he cares more than we do."
Danny takes that as a cue and gets out the wine he chose to go with dinner.
"And you don't want him cooking," Claude says with a grin.
"He's getting better," Carts puts in. "We're trying to send him back to you better than when we got him."
Claude's smile drops away. "Don't," he says. "You don't get to say that." It makes all of them pause, even Hartsy silent and still without something to say.
"Everything happens for a reason," Richie says after a moment. "It worked out for us."
Claude's hands ball into fists at his sides. "Don't."
"I'm always coming back to Haddonfield," Danny says. Doesn't say, "I'm always coming back to you."
