My brain is turned off (summer, ick), so have tiny snippets from things I've been working on relatively recently.

briouxs1 (Sean has a boyfriend)

"I was going to invite Kyle over," Sean says when Danny starts flipping through menus to decide what to have for dinner.

"What does he like on his pizza?"

Sean shrugs. "He'll eat pretty much anything." He wanders off, phone already out.

"Kyle?" Claude asks.

"Sean's boyfriend," Carson says. "He's cool, but he doesn't know anything about hockey. Can we get the shrimp pizza?"

Danny says, "You're not going to like it," but orders it anyway. He'll eat it even if no one else will.

"Boyfriend?" Claude says in an undertone when the boys are absorbed in their game again.

"It's like having five kids around sometimes," Danny says.

briouxs3 (professor!Danny/student!Claude)

"It takes them at least fifteen minutes every time we come here."

Claude laughs. "Do they always get the same thing anyway?"

"Caelan does. Cameron gets something different every time. What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be avoiding unhealthy foods during the season?"

Claude would flip him off, but there are kids around, and as much as he wants it, their relationship isn't quite at that level. "It's been a long week. I had a killer paper due."

Danny laughs. "I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure you did fine."

"I hope so."

One by one the boys choose ice cream flavors, until only Danny's left. "Amaretto in a cup," he tells the girl behind the counter, and he hands over his credit card to pay for it.

Carson makes a face. "Amaretto is the worst flavor. What are you going to get?"

Claude puts on a thoughtful face. "I might get two scoops of amaretto."

briouxs6 (girl!Danny)

"What Richie's trying not to say," Dani says from the doorway - Claude and most of the room turn to look at her. She's coming from the showers, hair still wet, feet bare, just a towel around her. She should look vulnerable and small, but she doesn't. She looks tough. "- is that my husband left me and we're fighting over custody. Now you can shut the fuck up about it and get back to your own fucking lives." It's more than Claude has ever heard her swear.

With Richie adding a glare to it, everyone does shut up about it.

Claude stops by her locker on his way out, and squeezes her shoulder because he thinks they're good enough friends that he can get away with it. "I'm sorry."

She nods and doesn't look up.

briouxs9 (Danny goes to college)

Claude hmms. "This is your midlife crisis, isn't it? Are you going to college so you can pick up sorority girls?"

Danny laughs. "I'm not going to pick up anyone the same age as my boys." He looks at his essay. "I might not even get in. I have to write an essay. I haven't written anything since high school."

"You can do it," Claude says. "I've seen the Marcel Robert plaque on your wall. You don't win that by being stupid."

Danny makes a face at his essay. "I think I just have to start over."

"Well," Claude says, "it's a good thing you don't have anything else to do."

"I talked to a family lawyer," Jeff says.

Mike frowns. "I thought all the custody stuff was taken care of."

"Yeah, for me," Jeff says. "I asked about second-parent adoptions. You're already her dad, you might as well be her dad legally. We can do it here and it'll be recognized in Canada."

It actually leaves Mike speechless for a moment. "You want me to be her dad?" he finally asks.

"Yes."

"That means forever," Mike says.

"It's already forever."

carterrichards2 (werewolf AU)

Richie shifts, going from human to wolf in a transition Jeff doesn't find unsettling anymore.

Jeff shakes his head and watches Richie and Arnold tussle for a bit before they both rush up to him. "You're going to play catch?" Jeff throws the tennis ball into a high arc into the surf. Richie's just a little faster than Arnold, and he brings it back to Jeff to throw again.

They play catch until Arnold flops down on the sand at Jeff's feet. Richie joins them more slowly, and Jeff crouches down to rub behind his ears. Arnold perks up after a minute and butts in to demand his turn. By the time Arnold is halfway satisfied, Richie is human and dressed, and resting a hand on Jeff's back.

"That was fun," Richie says as they walk up the beach to the street. "I've been wanting to do that."

"You should have said," Jeff says. "I would have taken you out there." He walks shoulder to shoulder with Richie, Arnold trotting ahead of them.

"Too many neighbors," Richie says.

"If anyone asks, I'll tell them I'm dogsitting."

"Asshole," Richie mutters, but he slings his arm around Jeff's shoulders.

carterrichards3 (Jeff hooks up with dudes)

Mike points Josh at the pans and utensils and sends Cabbie, He's making breakfast.

Better than a lot of hookups you two have brought home, Cabbie sends back.

Josh makes bacon too, and is just handing over a plate of eggs to Mike when Carts comes into the kitchen. Mike stares at him, gets a twitch of eyebrows back, glares until he gets a shrug and a sigh, and lets Carts steal a piece of bacon from his plate. Okay, then. Josh really was the one in Carts' bed last night, and he's not the first guy Carts has hooked up with.

There's an amused quirk to Josh's lips when Mike looks up, but he just says, "You want some?" to Carts.

"I got it." Carts pours himself coffee - careful spoonful of sugar, dash of milk - and cracks a couple more eggs, steals another piece of Mike's bacon but replaces it when he makes more.

Sid's at the edge of the rink, working on stickhandling with a couple of the older kids, when Alex swoops in and steals the puck from him. He didn't have a stick earlier, so someone must have loaned him one. Sid suspects Geno.

Sid gives chase. They're not in pads, it's crowded ice, and Sid's thinking about Alex's knee, so it's not quite the same as a real contest, but still, Alex fends him off pretty well and it takes longer than Sid would like until he can get the puck back and send it sailing across the ice to the kids.

Sid's breathing hard and sort of frowning at Alex. Alex just laughs, cups his hand around the back of Sid's head, and kisses him to the sound of Sid's teammates laughing and catcalling.

"When I played hockey," Alex tells him, forehead pressed to his, "I was very, very good."

"So why'd you call me?" Claude rocks Anna, brushes one finger over her tiny, soft cheek. "You should've called Danny, or one of the other guys with kids." He looks up at a suspicious silence from Hartsy. "Did you call me so I would call Danny for you?"

"I didn't want to bother him if he had the boys."

Claude stares him down, because that's a complete lie and he needs a moment to think about the boys' probable schedule.

"You know him better," Hartsy says.

Claude laughs and pulls out his phone. He explains the situation to Danny in French he knows Hartsy can't follow.

"He laughed at you," Claude reports when he hangs up. He lets Hartsy hang for a moment before he adds, "But he's coming over."

Hartsy practically collapses in relief.
