Reading
I love reading, and I want to continue reading published books as well as fan fiction. I would like to get through (or decide I'm never reading) all the things currently in my magazine/book holder. (It's only six books; it's totally doable.) I think specific reading projects need to remain on hiatus until I can get back to reading more. I would also like to remember that I have gift cards and a job, and I can actually purchase the occasional book I want to read.

Writing
If there's anything I've learned over the last few years, it's that I will (a) write a lot and (b) not necessarily write what I planned to write. That said, I do have some specific writing goals for this year:
  • Finish my half-assed edit of and sell the first novel. (It's not great, but I think it's both good enough and not great in a way that's appropriate to the genre. It does have a structural flaw, but fixing it would require rewriting at least half the book, and I don't love it enough to do that.)

  • Finish the second novel. (I already have just over 11,000 words.)

  • Start the third novel. (I may have figured out the hook for the last character in the series that starts with this book. Maybe. My preferred hook may not be particularly marketable.)

  • Finish/edit/post the Leighton/Vicky-T story. (Possibly for big bang, although I've probably talked about it way too much for the secrecy of big bang.)

  • Edit/post the Gabe/Victoria accidental marriage.

  • Write more of either (or both) of my kink fics in progress.

  • Finish one or more stories for my bingo card.

  • Finish the Chris/Steve space AU. I'm not willing to post it as never finished fic, which means I have to actually finish it.
Social Life
Many of my friendships are easy to maintain; I just email people random stuff or important things about my life or theirs and we follow each other on Twitter and have each other friended on LJ and Facebook. I have at least one, though, that needs more work if I want it to remain at the same level it used to be at.

I want to spend in person time with both [livejournal.com profile] lakeeffectgirl and [livejournal.com profile] schuyler this year, hopefully in some kind of way that also includes [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_lavish and [livejournal.com profile] siryn99.

I both stopped taking belly dance and left my writing group in 2010, which has left a big hole in the "social interaction with people I don't work with" part of my life. I don't know what to put in that space, but I'm hoping for something to come along this year.

I have been feeling more petty and small-minded recently. I don't like it. This year, I want to go back to the place where I felt full of love and compassion and kindness.
