Overall Thoughts:
That is a lot of fic. A LOT. (Adding up the ones with word counts in the list gives me just under 120,000 words.) And it doesn't even count the seven more pieces of fan fic I have in progress, the one that just needs editing, the original writing I did in 2009, or the three [livejournal.com profile] anon_lovefest and one [livejournal.com profile] jbkinkmeme bits I didn't claim. When I say I write a lot, I really mean it.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
More. I started out the year feeling a little less fannish. You can see that most of this was written after I got into bandom.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Bandom. I never thought I would have gotten into it, and I really never thought I would have written an epic het babyfic in it.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I have to admit that I tend to love my own writing, so this is hard! I think I'm really, really fond of "Full Hearts" and "Steel In Her Tone" (both FNL futurefic), as well as "Not Ever" (my sexed up version of Chris and Steve's canon); I felt like I lived for a long time in both "Fighting For" and "You Have My Heart (in your hands)" (both epic bandom family/romance stories); and I love "With This Ring" for reasons completely different from why anyone else seems to like it.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I think the biggest risk was trying to write a paranormal mystery novel. I learned that I'm not (or at least not yet) cut out for writing something that's neither erotica nor a romance.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Why, yes, I do, but I already talked about them, so I won't repeat that here.

From my past year of writing, what was...

My best story of this year:
Like I said, I tend to love my own fic. But I think the story that most got what I wanted it to say was "Five Romance Novel Beginnings Gabe and William Never Had."

My most popular story of this year:
By comment count, "We Hang Out On Fridays." By delicious tags, "Fighting For."

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Yikes. Many of the things on the list above have no comments, so, you know, I'm obviously not too upset when things go un- or under-appreciated (especially when I think about how many things I actually read and like but don't comment on). I did get one damning with faint praise comment on one story that made me wish she just hadn't commented instead, but I'm practicing letting go and not worrying too much about it.

Most fun story to write:
"Across the Street and Two Blocks Down." I don't know why that story in particular was so much fun to write, but I just had the best time writing it.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
Um. This is another one that's hard to come up with an answer for because I like a lot of the sex scenes I wrote this year. I think my favorites are the one in "Show You A Good Time" and the first two in "Fighting For." I also like the short but still hot (at least to me) sex scene in the kitchen in "Three Days Home." I'm also really fond of the New Year's kiss and the kiss after Victoria wakes up after they have sex to nurse Tyler in "You Have My Heart (in your hands)."

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
I'm sorry, have you met me? From an outsider perspective, probably the Joe/Nick d/s snippets.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Hmm. I don't know that any particular story shifted my perceptions, although doing research in the midst of writing certainly did, especially with "Fighting For" and "You Have My Heart (in your hands)."

Hardest story to write:
Hmm. If it's hard, I tend to give up on it. (See the whole list of never-finished fic for examples), so I don't know. "Fighting For" was a bit of a struggle in that I kept writing things that weren't what I planned to write. "You Have My Heart (in your hands)" required the most research.

Biggest Disappointment:
I don't know that it's really a disappointment, but I could have done more than I did with "Fighting For."

Biggest Surprise:
I don't know. I'm kind of past the point where writing things surprises me. I guess the fact that I wrote 37,000 words of het babyfic where they don't even kiss for a good 26,000 words.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Not just one story, but the whole kidfic/family theme is pretty telling. I've taken my body's wish for me to have children and shoved it off onto my characters, which my body seems to be pretty satisfied with.

There are some similarities in all of my het sex scenes that might be telling, I suppose. (And I didn't notice it until I just skimmed them now looking for sexiest moments.)
