Makin' a list.

This feels a bit like self-aggrandizement, but I liked reading Melle's list, and it sure beats proving that G is an abelian group if, for all x in G, x²=1.

This list is in three parts: Things I'm actively writing, things I'd like to finish someday in the future, and things I'd like to write but probably won't. This list represents only a small fraction of the unfinished fic I have lying around.



Things I'm actively writing.

• Harry-as-a-Slytherin trilogy of sex scenes. Harry Potter, Harry/Draco, Snape/Draco, Harry/m. Finished but for the beta and title(s). I'm having trouble finding the motivation to work on it, not to mention my insecurities about the second part.
  
  
• hphrpreg.txt. Harry Potter, Ron/Hermione, Hermione/Draco. In which Hermione is pregnant with Draco's child, Ron reveals never before known conservative values, and the scene in Potions.
  
  

  Ron let go of her and stared out at the lake. "You're going to have his child, and you won't even tell me who it is," he said dully.
  
  "I don't know if I'm going to have it."
  
  "Hermione, of course you have to have it."
  
  "I don't have to," she snapped. "This is the twentieth century. I'll have an abortion if I want to."

• hpsmcat.txt. Harry Potter, Snape/McGonagall. A bit on the sappy side and thus probably completely out of character, but a great deal of fun to write. I'm also experimenting with the use of a perfect tense for flashbacks in a past tense story.
  
  

  He'd been in the library, studying for his Arithmancy exam when the same cat had twined around his legs. He'd looked down and blinked. "Well. Hello again." The cat had meowed up at him, and he'd picked it. He'd settled the cat on his lap and stroked it gently while he tried to make his equations come out right.

  Plus, the twins:
  
  

  "Snape's petting McGonagall," a surprised voice reached them out of the crowd.
  
  "He's never," its twin answered.
  
  "He is. Look."
  
  The twins moved through the people around them to reach Snape and McGonagall. "Professor Snape," one of them began.
  
  "Happy Halloween," the other finished. "May we?" he asked, gesturing at the cat on his lap.
  
  "You'll have to ask her," Snape said coolly.
  
  The cat inclined her head and Fred reached out to pet her gently.

• After the Funeral. Harry Potter, Ron/Hermione, Bill/m. What happens after the funeral. Done: Hermione, Bill, Ron. Working on: Harry, Fred and George. Yet to be written: Percy, Charlie, Molly and Arthur, Ginny, Neville. I'm writing this one out of order, which is somewhat odd for me. I'm a very linear sort of person.
  
  
• hpsmcg.txt. Harry Potter, Snape/McGonagall. The foreplay is easy to write, the actual sex less so.
  
  

  Snape scowled when he answered his door. "Come to gloat, have you?" he asked sourly.
  
  McGonagall pushed her way in and kicked the door shut. "Not at all," she answered, pulling Snape to her. "But a good Quidditch match does get the blood flowing, doesn't it?" She planted her lips firmly against his.

• hphd3.txt. Harry Potter, Harry/Draco. Draco, an information dealer, refuses to be anyone's servant and makes an alliance with Harry. He pops into Harry's flat when he so desires, and they eventually have sex, off screen. Also being written slightly out of order. My inability to write battle scenes is something of a problem.
  
  

  "Ramen? Really, Potter, I would have thought that even you could do better than that."
  
  "And I suppose you have house-elves to take care of your meals," Harry retorted, turning to face Draco.
  
  "Not as many as you'd think," Draco drawled. "They all want to be paid and have days off." He heaved a long-suffering sigh. "Good help is so hard to find."
  
  "I'm sure it's a tragedy," Harry snorted.

Things I'd like to finish someday.

• kscottian.txt. Metallica, James/Kirk. Cliff spooks Kirk who goes downstairs to stay with Scott. He goes back to Metallica when sleeping arrangements are switched.
  
  

  Cliff caught sight of Kirk. "What the fuck happened to you?"
  
  Kirk self-consciously put one hand up to the bandage on his cheek. "Got in a fight."
  
  "Got beat up is more like it," Cliff sneered.
  
  James glanced from Kirk to Cliff. "Go see if Lars is ready to go," he said to Cliff.
  
  Cliff rolled his eyes. "Fine. You talk to him."
  
  As Cliff left, James walked over to Kirk. "You okay?"
  
  Kirk shrugged, keeping his head down. "Yeah," he said softly.
  
  "I patched him up," Scott said, coming across the room to join them.
  
  James tipped Kirk's head up and brushed his thumb over the bandage. "I see."
  
  Kirk tolerated the touch for only a moment before twisting his head away from it.

• jesse.txt. The Fast and the Furious, Dom/Letty, Dom/Jesse, Leon/Letty. Jesse's restless. Dom takes care of him.
  
  

  "Jesse," Dom says, his voice low and liquid. "Come here."
  
  He obeys, moves even before he can think about it. Letty moves away, and it makes space in Dom's lap for him. He doesn't get to do this much either, and he thinks maybe it's because Dom doesn't think he needs it much. Dom knows it's because Letty worries he'll choose Jesse over her.
  
  He's still jittery, and he bounces a little, even with Dom's arms around him.
  
  "Calm down, mad scientist," Dom whispers. He loves it when Dom calls him that, makes him feel special, smart. Dom's lips press against the back of his neck. "Just calm down and watch the movie." Dom's heat seeps into him, and he tries to relax, tries to just lean back against Dom and watch. He breathes with Dom, the way Dom taught him to, and it helps. He picks up the thread of the plot, such as it is, and follows it.

• jedi.txt. Star Wars universe, f/f. Original characters, but I've lost track of which one was supposed to be the Mary Sue.
  
  

  My connection with the Living Force, my empathy, was strong, but they were reluctant to allow me near others, especially those who were untrained. I was damaged, afraid. Fear leads to the Dark Side.

• mialetty3.txt. The Fast and the Furious. Mia/Letty. After Dom disappeared, Letty went to jail, gave birth, and she and Mia are together and raising a child when Dom returns. I have two or three versions of this floating around, and I finally figured out a good way to frame it.
  
  

  Dom took another step toward her. "Mia told me you did time. I'm sorry."
  
  "What's done is done," Letty said flatly.
  
  "Letty, come on. You know you're my girl."
  
  "You can't just walk in here and expect things to be the same." Letty tossed the bottle cap into the trash and took her beer out into the living room. Dom followed and watched her put her arm around Mia's waist, press her lips to Mia's temple.

• au.doc. Metallica, Lars/Skylar, James/Jason, Cliff/Kirk. Metallica in nineteenth century England, although they keep trying to be Irish. I finally figured out how to make the hard-to-write sex scene take place off screen, and now I kind of want to work on it again.
  
  

  James made his way to the door and yanked it open. "It is the middle of the night."
  
  Lars grinned at him. "I know. Skylar and I are getting married. Get dressed and come stand up for me."
  
  "Now?"
  
  "Yes, now. Come on. Put on your Sunday clothes and come to the church."

• Christina's breakdown. Fred Durst/Christina Aguilera. In which Christina has an orgasm, a revelation, and a breakdown. No idea how to end it.
  
  

  "Well, Aguilera, that was quite a performance."
  
  "Why do you always do that?"
  
  "Do what?"
  
  "Call me by my last name."
  
  He grinned at her. "Because no one else does." He turned serious. "You sound like shit. Screaming isn't good for your voice." He got up and went to the minibar, then came back with a bottle of orange juice. "Here. Drink this."

• Matt the kidnapper. Matt Damon/Ben Affleck. Matt kidnaps Layne Ulrich and takes him home to Ben. All plotted out, but only half a scene written.
  
  
• nicole.doc. Nicole Kidman/Salma Hayek. Completely implausible pairing. Tom as an abuser.

Things I'd like to write, but probably won't.

• The Mary Sue. The Fast and the Furious, Letty/f. Blatant Mary Sue, but since I'm a lesbian, the Mary Sue gets Letty, not Dom. Made slightly more interesting in that, in my head, it was always from Letty's point of view.
  
  
• Eroica fic. From Eroica With Love, Klaus/Dorian or Klaus/Z. I have about twelve Klaus/Dorian stories that are unfinished and badly written. I just can't find a realistic within the series way for them to get together.

The twins are why McGonagall's upset, and because she's upset, she's staying in cat form and hanging out with Snape.

I don't think it's that implausible to pair up Nicole and Salma. If you do play the six degrees of separation thing, it's quite possible that they could meet through Russell. Salma talked about him in an article I saw quite a while after they made the movie they did together, and there's no reason to assume that they couldn't have stayed friends and that she could have met Nicole that way.

BTW, it's partner abuse that I have a squick about. I have no trouble believing that Tom could be an abuser.

Though I wonder whether Nicole would at least try to warn Penelope. Whether or not she was thrown out by Penelope as a jealous wife trying all she could to hold onto her husband any way she could would probably depend on what you wanted to do with the story.

It's completely implausible, especially the way I've done it.

I've been working on the idea for the story for about a year and a half, so not only is it pre-Penelope, it's pre-RL split, and it was sparked by something you said:

Just *say* someone got it into their head to write a story in which Tom Cruise was abusing Nicole Kidman badly. Would we still say that this person has a right to post such stories *even if labelled fiction*?

Because I've got to admit, abuse of any kind squicks me *majorly* between partners, and I don't think I'd like to read something like that at all, but if someone wrote a fluffy courtship fic about Tom and Nicole, I'd read it.

Well, I was just saying, if you wanted to make it plausible, that could be a way of doing it.

I understand that it's pre-Penelope, but the thing is, the reader will take in the RL situation, and even if you disclaimer it as taking place pre-Penelope (that was just a thought I had more than anything, because I think it could be interesting, and I'm not about to write any fic involving Penelope. I know I never say I'll never do something, but Tom or Penelope, I think I can safely say, I will never write. I won't even say I won't write Nicole, because it's not impossible) and RL split, people will take the image they have of Tom now and apply it to the story. I know I will, because I have that image of Tom now.

And you know, I think I'd loathe that fluffy courtship story now. I said that based on what I thought their relationship was at the time, and until the split announcement came, it was that they were a happy couple.

I now find the abuse idea interesting :).

Amazing what a difference a year makes.

So? I don't think Tom now conflicts with the Tom of the story. It's not like Tom now left Nicole for Penelope.

That's actually pretty much what I was saying. Well, what I was saying is that honestly, I probably wouldn't have bought it then (when I had the image of Tom and Nicole as happily married) in the same way I will buy it now. Not a conflict, more that the expectations are different, if that makes sense.
