Note to self: when you feel very blah, especially about writing, do a Danielle LaPorte exercise. This weekend, I did the first worksheet in her FREE and CLEAR series (the link goes to the initial announcement/sign-up; there are individual posts for the series in the related posts at the bottom), and of course two of the things I wrote down as things I loved this year were (1) the times when I just got caught up in writing and (2) talking about books. (I belong to two book clubs now.) Clearly, I should do more of that kind of thing.

I refresh my reading page here at least a couple of times every day, even though very few people are using DW and even though I am really out of the habit of commenting. But I think I want to write more things that I want the DW sort of experience for: I want a space where I can say something and both not expect anyone to read/react to it and not care if no one does. Sometimes social media seems too public and email seems too personal, so I'm going to try out using DW as a happy medium. I'm also going to try out treating this more the way I treat Twitter, where it can be short little notes, as opposed to the way I used to use LJ, where I was really focused on making it good and meaningful or whatever.

Kinds of things I want to write about: books, movies, pop culture, the state of the world, feminism. This may end up as a failed experiment, but we'll see.
