Report on October:

I had planned to be out of town a few days in October, and then I also got sick, so it was not a great writing month.
  • Write at least 600 words per day on weekdays, except Fridays, and 900 words per day on weekends of book two, except days when I'm on vacation/going to shows. - Did this nine days and partially on three more.

  • Work on editing the Leighton/Vicky-T story for at least ten minutes a day, except Fridays and days when I'm on vacation/going to shows. - Did this eight days and partially on one more.

  • Write miscellaneous snippets as inspired. - Check, I guess. I don't know if I actually did this, but I did work on a few miscellaneous things.

  • Post to LJ at least once a week. - Alas, not quite.

  • Say positive things on Twitter. - Eh. Ongoing. I did better at the beginning of the month about stopping and thinking about it before complaining on Twitter.
Goals for November:

I'm doing a modified NaNo this month. I didn't sign up officially, but I am going to write 50,000 words. My plan is to finish both my book and the things that need finishing from my things to finish list. I'm also planning to sign up for Yuletide, so if assignments go out before the end of November, I'll probably be working on that too. Only fiction counts toward my goals. (Meaning, specifically, that LJ entries do not count.) For the purposes of weekly goals, Thanksgiving Wednesday counts as a Friday and Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Friday count as weekends. (The math doesn't work if you don't take that into account.)
  • Mondays through Thursdays: Write 1000 words of the novel and 500 words of other things (or the novel).

  • Fridays: Write 500 words of whatever I feel like.

  • Weekends: Write 1000 words of the novel and 1250 words of other things (or the novel).

  • Finish editing the Leighton/Vicky-T story. (This has to happen because final drafts are due December 1.)

  • Write miscellaneous snippets as inspired.

  • Post one thing I'm thankful for every day from today through Thanksgiving.

  • Say positive things on Twitter.

In case you missed them, here are the snippets I wrote as treats yesterday:

Pete and Bebe, werewolves for [livejournal.com profile] westingturtle: Bebe was born a wolf. It was different in ways Pete couldn't ever understand no matter how many times he asked her about it.

Bob/Spencer, plus a child, Halloween for [livejournal.com profile] siryn99: "Daddy! You're home! Look, I'm a superhero!"

Alex/Victoria, high school AU, prom for [livejournal.com profile] trcunning: They probably make a pretty picture this morning, walking through the easy light of a spring morning, Victoria in relatively demure pink and yellow and Alex in a suit.

Jay/Silent Bob, three things Bob knows about Jay for [livejournal.com profile] j_crew_guy: Their rent is always paid on time, and it's not because of Bob.

This marks the fifth year I've done this. The idea is to post one thing I'm thankful for from today through Thanksgiving, and it's something I originally picked up from [livejournal.com profile] kaygrr. I find that focusing on thankfulness makes for a much happier few weeks.

Today I'm thankful for my housekeepers. I realize this is an incredibly privileged thing to be thankful for, and I take incomparable joy in not having to do my own vacuuming.
