You may remember that I had two stories I wanted to finish or at least make significant progress on by the end of October.

First up is the Gabe/Victoria babyfic. It's not quite done yet, but I can see the end from here. It's now just over 30,000 words (it was only about 17,000 two and a half weeks ago), and maybe needs another 10,000 to the end. My goal for the last couple of weeks has been to write 1,000 words of it every day. I haven't always made that goal, but it's been going fairly well. My plan is to keep writing 1,000 words a day until it's done. If it really only needs another 10,000 words, that should put me on track with enough time to rework the bits that need work and get someone to beta read it before it has to be posted at the end of the month.

The babyfic soundtrack is also coming along well. I have some things to say about it, but I'll keep them for the author's notes. Does anyone have a version of "Hush Little Baby" they could upload for me? Any version will do, although a sleazy version, if such a thing exists, would be aces. I'm also looking for a good breakup song, preferrably of the "he cheated on me, that bastard" variety, but not Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" (I like it, but it doesn't fit the story).

The other thing I've been working on is what I keep calling the Mike/Kevin Halloween story, even though it only starts on Halloween. As you may have noticed, I did not finish it and post it on Halloween. [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_lavish and [livejournal.com profile] lakeeffectgirl were kind enough to read through what I had and talk it out with me, and I think it needs to be a much bigger story than I anticipated. My goal for this has been 200 words per day, and it's just now approaching 10,000 words. (And they're not even kissing! They're barely even dating!) My plan is to keep doing 200 words per day until I finish the babyfic, and then switch to 1,000 words per day. I have no idea how long this will end up being. I barely know what's going to happen after the scene I'm writing now. I do know that the future of the story requires research about John Ducey and/or Chelsea Staub. (Thanks, women of [livejournal.com profile] loseashadow! You were very helpful in suggesting them, even if you didn't know this was what you were being helpful for.)

The Mike/Kevin Halloween story also has a soundtrack, and I'm completely delighted with it. It always puts me right in the mood for the story.

Those two stories are still the main things I'm committed to working on, along with the Joe/Nick control fic [livejournal.com profile] lakeeffectgirl and I are working on. As always, I'll probably write snippets here and there.

At one point in October, I was procrastinating by cleaning out my bookmarks, and I came across the Ridiculously Specific Prompt Table, which I would love to do. I'm trying to remind myself I need to finish my commitments first. Maybe in December I can tackle the prompt table. Be prepared to be sadistic bastards!
