Ruth's Fannish Facebook Twitter Thing
Mar. 18th, 2009 08:59 pmI'm taking
lakeeffectgirl's advice and trying out using Twitter as a fannish Facebook sort of thing. (By which I mean posting fannish status updates.) This is only the latest in a string of social networking type things I was initially skeptical about but joined in eventually. (See also LJ, MySpace, Facebook.)
Anyway, you can find me on Twitter here. It's not protected, so if you're old-school, you could create an LJ feed for it from the RSS feed. (I'd create it myself, but I don't need to watch it, and I don't know if it would go away if I then stopped watching.)
I'm also interested in who you think is worth following. Obviously if you're on my friends list here you're worth following, and I'd love to know your username. Aside from that, are there celebrities you're following who are worth the time and attention?

Date: 2009-03-19 05:27 am (UTC)I highly recommend all the comedian/commentator types I have followed, like Paul F. Thompkins, John Hodgman, Rob Corddry, Michael Ian Black, etc., and they are more amusing if you follow them all, because they interact with each other a great deal. You can include Chris Hardwicke in that list, too, I guess, though I mostly know him from hosting "Singled Out" and other game shows, he now apparently reviews tech stuff for the G4 network. He is currently hosting a "Hogwarts Snaps" contest, complete with prize, for the best Harry Potter themed yo-momma jokes.
Jimmy Fallon is cute, but mainly plugs his show. Dane Cook, Russell Brand, and Margaret Cho are very off in their own little worlds, though Dane Cook prompted the most bizarre back and forth I've ever seen on Twitter, when he sent a tweet confirming a basketball game to Britney Spears, and a bunch of other very unlikely celebs. Ewan McGregor responded, somewhat hurt that he wasn't invited. To which Dane tried to say he was more than welcome, and they'd even switch from hoops to soccer. Ewan insisted on basketball.
Also, Gerard Butler asked if no one loved him for his mind (seemingly prompted by many women tweeting his hotness at him).
It's a bizarre place, welcome to it!

At the moment, I'm adding famous people with the thought that I can always delete them later.
Wow, does that sound like a bizarre and entertaining interaction. Like
