Back when I was working, I once had a day where I was cranky and grouchy by the end of the day. I was driving down the hill on my way home when Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" came on the radio, and I just couldn't be grouchy anymore.

Brilliant song. It was a favorite of mine back in 3rd grade. It was unique, for someone my age listening to the radio music I did: A song by a girl that didn't sound girly. You could listen to it right alongside something by Bel Biv Devoe and Bobby Brown and not be looked at askance.

Man, Paula Abdul was so cool back in the day. I actually owned one of her albums (possibly Spellbound) on cassette tape.
