Recs Request: DS9

So I'm watching my way through DS9, and the second season has a very large number of episodes that focus on one character. This weekend, I got to "The Wire," in which Garak's implant causes him pain and Bashir has to take care of him. Through the withdrawal. It's a serious Garak/Bashir episode, which got me looking for Garak/Bashir fic. Sadly, I'm not having much luck. Happily, I did find "Letters from the Northern Continent" by Hoyden, which is excellent. Anyone know of any other Garak/Bashir worth reading?

DS9 has never been one of my fandoms, but I've read Garak/Bashir on occason. I bookmarked this site ages ago - can't speak to the quality of most of the stories (can't even remember which I've read) but you might find something decent. http://www.strangefits.com/sfop/archive/archive1.html

It's been forever and a day since I read DS9 fic, but I do have a rec for one of Kathryn Ramage's stories here (http://norwich36.livejournal.com/15604.html#cutid3), and that will probably get you to her website--I remember her being very good.

Thank you! I found a later issue of that zine, which was uniformly bad, but I'll try out the earlier issues!

Yeah, I'm working my way through her stuff, which I've read most of before. It's mostly bad, in an overly melodramatic way, but there are a few moments of good. ("
Green Silk" is one that I was thinking of when I started looking for Garak/Bashir stories. I like the concept, but it doesn't quite hold together - it's too melodramatic at the end, and the plot holding it together is too flimsy. It would work better as a comedy.)

Hee hee! I was going to warn you about the "things I used to love that I now think are crap" factor in a lot of old fandoms of mine, but I see you've discovered it yourself. I was a lot less discriminating in my early days of reading fanfic, I think, and the DS9 period definitely counts as the early days.

I hope you find some decent Garak/Bashir somewhere, though.

I don't know that I loved any of this before - I didn't read Garak/Bashir until much later in my fandom days - but I do know the effect you're talking about!
