I'm trying to read The White Road - and "trying" is the key word. I keep getting distracted from the story by how clunky the writing is. (I will say that it is making me appreciate fan fic even more than I already do. Even less than great fan fic reads fairly smoothly.) I don't really remember the previous books (but I didn't remember the first three very well when I read the fourth and I just fell right into it, which is not happening with this one), so my question: Is the writing in this book actually worse than in the previous ones, did I enjoy the other stories so much that I just don't remember the writing, or am I just pickier/more critical these days?
