If I'd written this as an actual story, the summary would have been, "Taylor's first Christmas break after her parents die."

I was reading someone else's snippets, and then I wanted to write something where BGally de-ages and AGally turns into a cat, plus Anna is awesome.

I didn't cobble together enough holiday spirit to send cards this year, I'm feeling a little stuck on my current writing projects, and I have a few days off for holidays this week and next week, so it seems like a good time to do prompt snippets.

Leave me a prompt by the end of the day Saturday and I will write you something by the evening of January 4. (If there are a lot of prompts or circumstances change, posting may extend beyond this date.)

Fine print/guidelines: One per person. Lurkers and anonymous commenters welcome. If you're posting anonymously because you don't have an LJ account but I know you elsewhere and you leave me your name, I will do my best to write something catered to your tastes. Generally first come first served, although things may jump the queue depending on inspiration and what can be written at work. I will write hockey, but not Patrick Kane, Drew Doughty, or the Avalanche. I may write other fandoms; feel free to ask if you want something else. I may veer from your prompt. I will take lyric prompts, but be forewarned that I'm not necessarily good at them. This is for new story ideas, not sequels or timestamps. I make no promises about length, but in the past prompt snippets have tended to be 300-3000 words.

Happy Halloween! Welcome to the sixth annual edition of virtual trick-or-treating.

Knock or ring the bell by leaving me a comment, and I'll reply with a treat of some sort. It might be a fic snippet, a picture, a video, or something else I come up with in the moment. My intention is to finishing handing out all treats before I go to bed on Halloween. (And then sleep in on Saturday.) Lurkers and anonymous trick-or-treaters are welcome! (But if you're posting anonymously or your LJ completely friends-locked and you want a treat specific to your interests, let me know something about why you know me/what you're into.)

Summary: That first night, alone in Cal and Kelly's guest bedroom, Tyler changes his Facebook status to single, hides Segs from his feed, stops following him on Instagram, stops following the Stars Foundation on Twitter, deletes the Stars app from his phone so he won't get their updates.

Notes: This is slightly AU because I wrote it before the summer. Title from Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys."

I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off this week and next Friday is a holiday, which means I have a four-day weekend this weekend and three-day weekend next weekend. I'm going to use this time to do what I love to do on long weekends and write prompt snippets.

Leave me a prompt by, say, Saturday morning, and I will write you something by the evening of July 6.

Fine print/guidelines: One per person. Lurkers and anonymous commenters welcome. Generally first come first served, although things may jump the queue depending on inspiration. I will write hockey, but not Patrick Kane or Drew Doughty. I may write other fandoms; feel free to ask if you want something else. I may veer from your prompt. Melodrama: I reread parts of both of the Danny and Claude with a baby girl stories, and now I want a story where Sylvie and her new husband get pregnant, and Danny can't handle it. He's on the road with the Penguins (uh, I really want all the fic about him signing with the Pens, as unlikely as that probably is) and calls Claude. He's been drinking and he spills to Claude that back when things were good, he and Sylvie used to talk about having more kids once the boys were older/Danny got closer to retirement. Now she's having more kids and he isn't, and he loves Misha, but while she's fine with the boys, she's not particularly maternal and doesn't want more kids.

Way back when, [livejournal.com profile] lakeeffectgirl said, "Biz, you probs have a kid out there somewhere by now, and therefore are the NHL player most likely to star in a 'magically appearing two year-old' story." I, of course, love kidfic and wrote a handful of bits and pieces about Biz and his magically appearing two-year-old. It's been exactly a year since I last did anything with the doc for it, so today seems like a good day to post it.

Story )

The story behind this story is that I really want someone to write a (subtle!) exploration of the ways in which Sid protects his private life/self. This was sort of a stab at that story. I could never figure out the first section, wasn't sure Iginla was right for the fourth, and completely gave up when Claude not going to the Olympics jossed it. It also turned out to have something of an element of choose your own sexuality, which was not what I meant to do. The summary for this would have been something like, "Five people who saw Sid from the outside, plus one view from the inside." (I could never come up with an easy, catchy summary either.) Fair warning that this still has all of my [SOMEONE] sort of placeholders.

Sometimes I like to write melodramatic things about people with babies. Content note: off-screen previous death of the baby's mother.

The only research I did for this plot bunny was TV show and Pittsburgh hotel related, so if you find yourself wondering if this matches up with reality in any way, the answer is probably no. The Russian version of The Nanny is, however, real, although I can't remember where I first read about it. The references to Estelle's baby cheeks come from this gifset where Flower talks about them. I stole plot points from at least two different stories I read in previous fandoms. This was more melodramatic in my head.

Sid Secret Marriage )

Summary: Tyler can't fix things for Segs, but he can be there for him.

Notes: If you're looking for something particularly realistic, this is not the story for you. This is the melodramatic variation on the TBrown outsider pov TSegs sexuality crisis story I keep saying I refuse to write.

Summary: Geno places a word in the right ears, nudging a little here and there, easy as a pass across the ice, until Flower stands up in the middle of the locker room after practice and says, "Listen up, boys. Tomorrow night, we are throwing Sid a housewarming party. Every one of you is bringing something."

Notes: Snippet for [livejournal.com profile] icanbreakthesky, who wanted Sid and touch. (I veered a little from that.) Title from the Collins English Dictionary definition of "self-contained."

So sometimes I write melodramatic snippets that (a) are ridiculous/unbelievable, (b) get jossed, and/or (c) I will never turn into fic. A collection of those seems like a good post for April Fool's Day, so here are five of them. You could read the first one as a pairing kind of story, but they're mostly gen. Also, the second, fourth, and fifth ones mention Claude's real-life girlfriend, so be forewarned if that's not your kind of thing.
